This place has so much personality. The prices are great, the scenery there and on the way there are amazing. Cheap rocks, a cool museum, dogs and peacocks running around, it's a cool and unique environment. If you are into rocks or you know someone who is, definitely check this place out, it is 100% worth the trip. I have some great pieces from here that I got for $20> that would be hundreds elsewhere.

Highly recommend if you are a rockhound! Worth the drive if you are from out of town or a great place to stop if you are on a road trip. Very reasonably priced and always fun to hunt for that special something. We always walk away with more than we originally planned.

We've come every year for what seems like a decade now. Every time we find cool things, and I'm always recommending this place to others back in western Oregon.

I really like this place a lot. They no longer allow you to dig your own thundereggs, but that's great because it's so much easier to let them do the digging @$2/lb. The drive is beautiful. There are so many rocks from around the world. Hard to find (older stock) of jaspers, agate, etc. One could spend all day here and not see all of the rocks. The owners are very nice and knowledgeable people.

Awesome place, friendly people. Car left a bit heavier and wallet somewhat lighter. Thanks very much

They have a wonderful selection of raw stones, crystals, and thunder eggs outside and a very nice collection of tumbled, polished and shaped stones and crystals inside. So glad we took a detour to stop and check it out! Some of my beautiful finds in their new home 😍 they haven't been cleaned up yet, but they still speak to me!Super friendly proprietors that can tell you all about their items.Stop in to add to your stone/crystal collection and visit the Ostrich and Peacocks too. We'll be back soon!

This place rules! If you like rocks, family fun, and weird birds. Go here! Protip; if you go on a hot day, be sure to bring lots of water, sunscreen, hats, and a long sleeve shirt, because it is hot hot hot.We found some amazing rocks, gems, and sweet deals.I work as a jeweler and I got loaded up on all the minerals I need for the the year. So awesome!

Been coming to this place for years because it is one of the best stops for rocks on the west coast. A true hidden gem with something for everyone here.Love doing business with Richardson Rock Ranch!

Amazing stop if you know rocks and know what to look for. It's also amazing if you aren't! They're kind and knowledgeable and I can't wait to come back!

We went out of our way to visit the ranch and found many beautiful cut thunder eggs that were beautiful. Large selection of rocks from around the world.
Brenda P — Google review
If you like Crystals and Rocks, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! Extremely affordable prices and they never change, Richardson’s Rock Ranch is a family own crystal and rock RANCH (not a shop) you can find almost any beautiful rock you need for your project or just to add to your collection.

An absolute paradise for rock lovers 😍 I drove many hours to go here and was not at all disappointed. There are so many rocks from all over the world, and also a beautiful gift store with lots of treasures. I could have spent all day here, and all my money. I can’t wait yo visit it again sometime (soon!🤞).
Bella O — Google review
It's not like it was ... They no longer have on-site digs. Beautiful rocks to purchase from all over the world. Thunder eggs are dug out and brought to the store to pick through.
Sherolyn S — Google review
Amazing experience with plenty of rock beds and lots of beautiful scenery. We had no difficulty getting 2 buckets of thunder eggs. You can buy rocks from all over the world including some exotic types and they have a gift shop and museum. Very affordable and fabulous adventure for families, rock hounds and anyone looking for gems and minerals.

1,800-acre ranch with refined suites & cabins, plus an 18-hole golf course, a spa & horse stables.
My husband, toddler and I just visited Brasada Ranch for his birthday/ Valentine’s Day and we cannot say enough positive things! It was our first trip as a family and our sweet girl had the time of her life and we soaked up every second watching the smile on her face and precious family time! Our favorite thing was the equestrian center! Our babe is only 2 so she wasn’t able to do horseback riding, we fortunately met Chris while feeding the horses and he immediately welcomed us and was so kind! He offered to meet us on our way out to show our horse loving daughter around the equestrian center and pet and brush a horse. Laredo was the sweetest horse I’ve ever seen. So patient and I never had a single worry with my young girl. Chris showed us such genuine love and kindness, the work he does there is incredible and selfless serving. It was a time we will never forget!! Chris treated us like family and loved seeing our daughter so joyful as much as we did!The pool, kid center, and cabins were all lovely as well. We will no doubt be back and recommend this for a family trip no matter how young your children!

We visited for 4 days for a very large family wedding. Beautiful location, especially for the wedding. The staff will go above and beyond and the food is amazing at every meal. The 4 bedroom cabins are perfect for large families. Very comfortable and still giving everyone a little space. We would love to come back and visit again.

I just completed a two night stay at Brasada and loved 99% of my visit. Arrived on a Tuesday afternoon and got settled into my gorgeous suite with an amazing view of all the mountains from Mt. Bachelor to Mt. Jefferson. I had dinner reservations at the Ranch House and when I arrived I immediately noticed they were short staffed. Once I was seated, my drink order was promptly taken. I ordered wings and a salad for dinner. After waiting 45 minutes I walked up to my server to cancel my order since tables that arrived after me were receiving food. Fast forward to the following morning, I thought I would try the restaurant again but this time for breakfast, and it was great! Great service, great food. I enjoyed a sunset trail ride with Anika - she was great and very friendly even though I was the only person on the ride. Had a morning massage with Simeon at the Spa and it was the BEST I have EVER had - great pressure!

I didn't stay at the resort. My brother and his wife did. We were his daytime guests at the pool every day for 4 days, though. The staff was very friendly, attentive, understanding and pleasant to communicate with. We had a large family dinner. We were given a separate room at the restaurant. It was comfy, intimate and plenty large for our party of 18. With sliding glass doors onto the deck, overlooking the valley... with access to outside lounging, grass and even a fire place, this was a perfect place for our family dinner. The pools are large, just the right temperature for playing with kids. It's a fun place for the family. Some golfed, some played pickleball. We could have gone horseback riding. I hope we make the ranch an annual tradition for our family!

A nice place, but almost nothing was open mid week. We were passing through and the wife wanted to stays somewhere nice and found this online. While this place looks to be a great golf resort, it doesn't lend it self to people passing though very well. It is beautiful scenery and the rooms were large. Brasada Ranch is a beautiful resort! We went there for a surprise birthday trip at the end of June. Even though there had been a few hiccups in the beginning, they were all put out of mind after we met Hailee. I'm not sure what her position was, but if she's not a manager, she definitely should be! Hailee's communication and helpfulness were unmatched. She made it a point to end our trip on a great note, and honestly, I can say without a doubt, that she was the reason why our stay turned out amazing! Thanks again! :)

We started vacationing to Brasada over 13 years ago. It was such a great experience that we moved to the area. Today we visited the Ranch House for lunch and that part of our visit was a good experience. Our Server is always so helpful and kind. So after lunch today I walked up to the front desk to inquire about booking a weekend in one of the ranch cabins for later this month. The front desk receptionist was immediately rude to me. I wasn't greeted with a smile, instead she acted annoyed with me for inquiring about staying there. She told me that I needed to call reservations or book online. I realize that more places have turned to this type of business practice but I was standing in front of her and I walked up with a friendly demeanor. She kept repeating herself when I tried to engage her in conversation. It was unbelievably rude. Terry, the Manager, stepped in and at first acted like she was going to be helpful. She asked me a few questions as I stood there trying to process how I was treated by the receptionist (long dark hair and wore glasses, didn't think to catch her name because I was in shock). Terry didn't end up helping me at all while I was there, instead she took my phone number. It's been over an hour and she still hasn't called. At this point I won't book directly through Brasada and may never stay there again. They need kind and friendly staff again. The receptionist ruined our experience today. When I looked back a couple of times to see if anyone was going to look up dates I noticed that Terry waa quite close with the receptionist staff. She absolutely didn't do anything about how I was treated by her staff. Which is so upsetting since she watched it all happen. I hope corporate sees this review and makes positive changes with their staff. At a minimum they lost a couple of thousand dollars that we would have spent in a weekend there and much more in future trips that we would have booked. I will also share my experience with my family and friends and we all know that word of mouth powerful. We can't be the only ones that are being treated badly. It's sad. The Ranch used to be our favorite destination.

Brasada Ranch is exactly what I was hoping for, and more! Impeccable service around the clock. The grounds are beautiful and they are very dog friendly! I stayed in the newer bungalows and it came with my own golf cart! Highly recommend this resort for a 'self care' getaway!

You pay a resort fee for 3 people, and then they limit towels and services to only 2 people. When you can’t get 3 towels as a paying guest, it makes you wonder about the level of discrimination between the haves and have-nots. I have stayed here every summer for the last 3 summers, and something as simple as a towel is enough to make me never come again. I am not a fan of being limited in the most basic fundamental thing, like getting a towel to keep my kids dry.

Stayed with the family during Thanksgiving week and it was lovely. Holiday meals at the restaurant are quite pricey but it was really good food. Cabins were so nice, the property is so pretty, kids may get a little bored in colder months, but us adults were in heaven with the coziness, the luxury, the nature and the space.

Wow the team they have there is outstanding! I'm a blue collar worker going on off season and never once felt out of place or less than and that's important. Besides that AMAZING! TERRY and STACIE at the front desk are so helpful and resourceful! There were some hiccups during our girls weekends but the front desk team knew what to do and never skipped a beat. Through those hiccups we met PERCY and JOHN. Who were extremely professional and helped us thro during a very stressful time.THE SPA IS FANTASTIC! Again WHAT. A. TEAM! I can not express enough the level of satisfaction I had going there. This being my first luxury spa I don't think I will try anywhere else if I have a chose 🥰 AGI at the desk is funny and good at what she does. I got a top of the line facial from REBEKAH. Her hands and patience she had with the techniques are amazing. About 5 days multiple showers later I still feel soft. If you need to escape book her! You will not be disappointed ❤️ to the massage... I got the pleasure of having JENNIFER. Wow. Her experience has installed a wonderful knowledge of the body and the ways of relaxation. I now know you don't need a deep tissue to fully feel messaged you just need to know how to do it! She was the most professional MT I've had and that area I do have experience in. The environment she provides you is truly an escape well your in her care. I'm so appreciative of her, of them all at SPA BRASADA. They truly made us girls feel welcomed and loved.Thank you BRASADA for making my Leap day birthday big 9! One to remember. I will brag about my time til the next time I see you 🥰 If your thinking of going go! If you have questions call! I don't know all their names but every phone interaction I had the weeks add up to this trip was helpful and eliminated all stress and loved the questions I had and found the answers when they didn't know.... like how to set up my Xbox 🤭 🥰

Loved our stay at Brasada Ranch! The room was beautiful, and we decided we want a fireplace in our own room some day! The views were beautiful and the walking trails so fun.

The food each evening was excellent along with the beautiful sunsets.I enjoyed time at the spa this visit and wasn't disappointed. Rebecca was incredible!!!! Nature & Parks
Smith Rock State Park is a renowned destination for rock climbing enthusiasts, situated in a dramatic canyon with primitive campsites and hiking trails. It's located about 40 minutes northeast of Bend and is known for its stunning natural beauty. This park offers plenty of opportunities for climbers to scale various rock walls, while hikers can enjoy long walks amidst breathtaking scenery. However, visitors should be mindful of the leash laws for dogs enforced within the park boundaries.
This is such a stunning state park! Pay the $5 for day parking at the machine and then you’re good to go! Lots of hikes and trails available for all levels and an excellent spot for climbing too. Well worth the visit if you are in the area. Dry and rocky climate.

This is an impressive park. We hiked Misery Ridge Trail (in reverse). Instead of going to the right and going straight up, we went to the left and followed the river then went up to the ridge and down the steep part. It was in the 90's when we were there with hardly any shade and the signs posted say to bring water and drink 16-ounces per hour! The trail was difficult in some areas, especially going down Misery Ridge Trail. It is steep and zigzags and you can easily lose your footing and slip. My toes were actually sore and even a little bruised the next day because it was so steep. Using hiking poles would have been a good idea (if I had any). We stopped a lot to take pictures, so it actually took us around 3 hours to do the hike. If we do it again, I would like to go in the spring and start early in the day when it is cool. The views from up top though are amazing! So bring lots of water, where good shoes and bring those hiking poles. There are some flush toilets at the park which is always a plus for me.

An amazing spot for hike - feels like a totally different planet. Pack water and take good hiking shoes (there are some steep bits). Morning is better for pics than the afternoon, but at sunset it’s pretty as well.

I recently visited Smith Rock State Park with my nephew and nieces, and we had an absolutely fantastic time. The park's natural beauty is simply breathtaking, with stunning rock formations and panoramic views that make it a perfect destination for anyone who loves the outdoors. The trails were well-maintained, and we enjoyed exploring the different paths that offered various perspectives of the park's majestic scenery. Watching the kids marvel at the towering cliffs and the Crooked River winding below was a highlight of our trip. Whether you're into hiking, photography, or just want to take in a great view, Smith Rock State Park is a must-visit. We left with wonderful memories and can't wait to return!

This place appeared on the horizon when driving to Bend, I knew right away I had to get there. It’s EPIC! Lots of long walk and if you’re a climber so much rock walls to climb. One should absolutely go here and I’ll definitely go back someday. Only downside is leash laws for dogs but we’re used to this.

No rock climbers in our group, but our group really enjoyed hiking in the rim and river trails in this beautiful park. The rim trail offers nice views for hikers and non-hikers alike. Wide, flat trails, offer easy access to the river and canyon trails below. We had limited time there, so we didn't climb the steep, exposed trails to the top of the mountains. Instead we hiked along the river snapping photos of the impressive cliff faces and scads of climbers. The park was crowded on a cool, sometimes stormy, Spring day, but the trails were never crowded. It's a beautiful place, so I can see why! We'll return to hike over the mountains soon. It will surely be worth the effort.

What a wonderful place to go for adventure. This was my first time visiting this wonder of Oregon. Please take plenty of water and wear the right shoes. With the combination of altitude and heat. It is easy to become dehydrated and experience heat stroke. It was amazing to see rock climbers at various stages. Families enjoying the beautiful scenery.I was able to see an eagle and various wild life.If you want a place to go to, worth the drive. Plenty of picnic tables and beauty.Oregon is amazing!!

Truly a gem in Oregon! Nearly everything for an outdoor adventurer to do. Views are amazing. Nice big lots for parking and a turn around with a view point for quick 15 stops or less. Trails are well marked for hiking. The rock climbing is like no other here. Does get pretty hot during the summer months so come prepared (early and lots of water) Common areas were well kept and clean even with a giant yurt for a visitor center. A must see if you are in central oregon.

Visiting from California went for a great unexpected crazy hike but Loved it. If you're looking for a good hike or any type of rock climbing, this is definitely the place. You don't have to climb the mountain. But if you want to take the hike up to the top, it's definitely worth it.

This is a hidden gem in Oregon, which could qualify for a national park in my opinion. Not far away from Bend, it's very convenient with spectacular scenic view. The hiking(Misery Ridge & River Trail) is a little tough but manageable and fun. You will be rewarded once you are on the top. I highly recommend the hiking, this trail going up and around the peaks. The trail along the river is much easier, while the other part goes to the rocks is kind of tough and challenge, so be prepared. This place is relatively hot and dry in the summer, and you need to bring lots of water, hiking shoes are highly recommended. The monkey face rock is amazing, a great place for rock-climbing. You can also see snow covered mountains far away from the top, very gorgeous view and really worth it. There are lots of interesting places, rocks, rivers etc. to explore. The hike could take hours or a whole day.

What a sight to behold! 🥹 A must see with your family and friends. Restrooms/porta-potties in parking lot, and even down in the canyon. Hiking up and down isn't for the faint of heart though. We hiked the trail along the river as we watched several rock climbers scaling the mountains. Grassy area at the base of the canyon to relax before the climb back up to the parking lot. A picnic area at the top to sit and have lunch at. Kids' play area with a small rock wall for them to try. I really enjoyed visiting this beautiful park 🏞️

Great hike, bring extra water and definitely a good gear. Once up there, it's definitely worth it. We've done this trail four times, and every time is a great experience. Lots to see you can really take in the views from the top of the rock.

Awesome hike! My wife and I did a party that ended up being about 3 miles, and the scenery was gorgeous. Went about mid day, and although there were plenty of cars in the parking lot and side road, because the area is so large we hardly ran into anybody. You could spend hours exploring all the twists and turns. You’ll also probably see some rock climbers (experienced and learning)!

Absolutely breathtaking views! We took the lower trail due to medical reasons and my 5 year old son being with us, and it was doable even in the heat of a summer afternoon! Great exercise, fun adventure, and amazing views!

It’s a great place to visit in Oregon. Close from Bend. Hiking trails can be very long. I only tried 2 mile trail though I would like to try something longer. The wall which many people climb, the river, the view, I love it. There are quite a few picnic tables, bathrooms, water faucets, nice place, I have visited 3 times and it does not get old.

We were recommended to visit here. I'm so glad we did. The two easiest trails were beyond beautiful. My four year old enjoyed them as well. Not too many people earlier in the morning, which made it great to stop and explain nature to our son. We were able to walk over a well-maintained wooden bridge with ease. We would definitely come back for another visit with better shoes.

I’ve never felt so unwelcome on a mountain bike even though they’re allowed on all the trails we went on and we used respectful trail etiquette. Probably just the type of people this place attracts from Portland and California. Met some nice Japanese tourist's thought.

One of the most gorgeous hikes I’ve done. The nature it’s just simply beautiful and different from your typical forest hike. This park is very famous for rock climbing fans. Parking is $5dll and it has restrooms.

Very long hike but so worth it. Go counterclockwise on the trail. It’s gonna be rough and steep but it’s short! As soon as you hit the peak it’s smooth hiking all the way back around. If you go clockwise you’ll be going uphill longer (not as steep but wayyyyy longer) and the hike back down would be super steep and kinda dangerous.

We had an amazing time at Smith Rock State Park this past Saturday! Our family, including our four-year-old and our dog, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The rim rock trail offered breathtaking views, and it was a delight to spot rabbits, dragonflies, fish, and many birds along the way.The highlight was watching the rock climbers scale the massive rock walls, we were all very impressed. The picnic area was a perfect spot for a break, and our dog appreciated the water bowls and water fountain provided. It's a beautifully maintained park with something for everyone. Highly recommend for a family outing!

One of the prettiest hikes I have ever done and neatest little river. This is an epic spot easy to see and get to from Mt. Hood highway and from Bend, which is just one of the most beautiful pockets of the country overall. My only regret was coming over here when I was tired, but its one of the most memorable spots I have ever seen.

Beautiful, lesser known part of Oregon. It was fun to see more of the desert side of Oregon and loved the drive in through the canyon. I had a 15 mile race here that kicked my butt, and was grateful for the gorgeous views that motivated me to keep going. I wish the trails were marked a little better, I got lost at one section and had to loop back. Overall a beautiful park and worth the trip.

First time visiting Smith Rock State Park. We were in Redmond with family and wanted a place to walk. Had I known how great this park was, I would have planned for a longer visit and hikes. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful surroundings, rock formations, river views and trail conditions. Parking was easy enough, even though it was a Saturday morning. And, all day parking is only $5, paid at a self pay kiosk. I will visit again with the goal of hiking to the top of the mesa.

Absolutely stunning place to visit. Some of pit toilets at the top and also in the gorge. Easy walk down to the river and along the trail and lots of climbers. It's an amazing hike with lots of fun trails to explore. There's a couple self pay stations and handicap spots as well.

Heaven on Earth! This place was on my bucket list for so long and I know I will be back. There are so many trails to do, easy, moderate and hard, and lots of rock climbing going on at this park. Entrance to the park is $5.00 and worth every penny. There is so much parking space but this place is absolutely packed!!! Public restrooms are available, and many picnic tables to sit and enjoy the view. For the kiddos there is a small park with a rock to climb on. Dogs are allowed with a leash. This is a must but go quick before it gets too hot. The pictures don’t do justice to this beautiful place so go see it for yourself.

What's not to like about a cool rock sticking up out of the ground, the remnant of prehistoric cataclysmic events? Add in a meandering river, rock climbing, cycling, and hiking and you've got a sure-fire winner for adventure. The trails are well-maintained and there are adequate bathrooms at the top (where you park) and also down below (near the river and river trail. The views are amazing.Things to remember/keep in mind:The trail can be very steep, including the first section as you head down to the river. If you don't feel confident heading down, you'll feel worse coming back up.Misery Ridge is named appropriately. Remember, too, that you are hiking at some altitude: you may feel like you're going to die.The weather tends to change rapidly. There are rattle snakes. Stay on marked trails and watch and listen where you're going.Don't leave valuables in your vehicle.

A gorgeous slice of Utah in Oregon 😍 the hikes range from easy to moderate and there are tons of spots for climbing. The river is beautiful especially at dawn and dusk as the light moves along the rocks shifting reflections on the water. We saw deer and lots of birds. Everywhere you turn is like a postcard. We loved it and would happily go back

The views! What can I say... Im a sucker for great views on a hike. Wonderful way to get a good workout and some rock climber sightseeing 😉. Lots of shade around to rest and drink some water. Or dip your feet in the river. It can get busy, lots of hikers with dogs , and the trail is steep, I slipped a couple of times.

We visited early morning before it got too hot. It was already pretty busy. $5 parking pass fee. Amazing views. We visited the welcome center and they helped answer questions and guide us to the best family friendly hikes and my boys got a kids junior ranger badge for filling out a booklet. We saw a river otter, bunnies, geese, lots of butterflies and birds. Next time we hope to take on a steeper hike as well. We saw mountain climbers, lots of dogs and appreciated that they had bathrooms on the hike even.

It's such a beautiful place! You could spend a whole day exploring! Just make sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen and remember to stay on the trails. I recommend staying on the lower trails/flatter ones If you don't like big hills, climbing up the mountain was tough but the view was totally worth it!

We arrived with enough daylight to do a 6.5mile hike that included misery ridge and summit trail loop. The trail is stunning the entire time. We started the hike climbing up to monkey face rock and then around the river. Highly recommend this hike!

This is a gorgeous park! The views of the valley are only steps away from the many parking lots. You can walk down to the bottom and explore all around, there were lots of people rock climbing. I will say that path leading down is quite steep, just take your time and don't be embarrassed by the heavy breathing that happens when coming back up lol, we are all there with ya. We visited at the end of April and had mostly cloudy weather, which was actually quite nice as it would be really hot with no shade or reprieve from the sun if it was a more hot and sunny day. Make sure you bring lots of water, and know that there are outhouses near the bottom of the path.

This park is wildly beautiful and worth stopping at - the views from anywhere in this park are surreal! Misery Ridge hike is very aptly named, but it's worth all the suffering, I promise! Bring lots of extra water because you'll absolutely need all of it here

Several great different trails but be warned that any routes you choose that go up Smith Rock are going to be pretty difficult and require stable ankles for balance. Be mindful of the heat during the summer months and bring plenty of water.

Do not miss the chance to visit. The highlight of our trip to Redmond. This is on the property of Eagle Crest resort, where we were staying for the week of spring break. We visited one afternoon and loved it. The artist (Alfred) was there during our visit and it was a delight to talk with him about his work and life philosophies. Alfred's art is a symbolic artist and he has explanations of all the paintings that are very engaging and thought-provoking. We spent hours studying the paintings and reading the explanations. The gallery manager Patty is awesome! My 11 year old son mentioned that he likes to draw. Patty told us about an art class Alfred does that was perfect for him. We signed him up for a class the next day. He was the only student! Alfred sat with him 1 on 1 for two hours and guided him in the creation of a charcoal sketch. He gave him lots of great advice and encouragement and our son had a fabulous time. He has a beautiful matted charcoal drawing that he created himself that was included as part of the class. Lots of original art for sale, and although a bit out of our price range, prices were not crazy. Lots of high quality limited edition reproductions and framed pieces. We bought one of my favorites, and also a card for our 5-year-old daughter, which Alfred spent several minutes talking to her about while he signed it. If you are lucky, Patty might even make you some raspberry lemonade.

I never had the opportunity to work one on one with such a brilliant artist. While I stayed a week at the Eagle Crest Resort, I reserved a one on one session with Alfred. Having not picked up a pencil in years it was a relief to get inspired so quickly within his art studio/gallery. I learned new techniques and having my piece framed by Patti,Alfred's dear wife, just made it a memorable moment in such a beautiful place. Next time I need to make more time to spend with his artwork in the gallery. Each piece tells such an in depth story. Thank you so much to Alfred and Patti , it will be just the first visit.

This was the highlight of my stay at Eagle Ridge Resort. Just so happened it was on a Sunday and we were going to church so what's right next door is this wonderful art gallery, well needless to say we never managed to get to church two hours later we're still there with the owner and his wife showing us and explaining to us he's art and the deep meanings of each peice. I could write a book on this man and his works but better to Google him and find out what he's really all about. You won't be disappointed I got to bring home some lovely gifts signed and framed

The field rangers are corrupt and don’t uphold the laws they enforce. Rules for thee but not for me seems to be their policy. They kick people out of campsites and then occupy them for the entire summer. They have big parties where there is lots of drinking, and marijuana use. I just don’t think the people who are going to issue me a ticket for abusing the Forest should be allowed to do the same. I have filed complaints but they seem to have a “good ole boy” system there also and it fell on def ears. So use at your own risk and be aware of corrupt rangers

Someone picked up the phone right away and seemed friendly about answered backpacking questions. I totally understand that they don’t want to/don’t have time to plan people’s backpacking trips for them. That’s not their job. But I was trying to keep my questions concise and logistical (in total, the call was less than 4 minutes) Anyway, he entertained them at first but seemed incredibly hasty trying to get me off the phone, interrupting to say “Is there anything else I can help you with?” And then hanging up as soon as I said “Uh, I guess not.” I was really surprised with the abruptness!

I've been here a number of times as my family has grown up. The park is beautiful and never looks the same twice. There are so many aspects that it will take me at least a half dozen more visits before I feel like I really know the place. My kids are grown now and still love it. Memories were made here. Good ones. The kind you remember fondly when getting together with family.

Cline Falls State Scenic Viewpoint
State park
Nature & Parks
This natural area on the Deschutes River offers activities such as swimming, fishing & picnicking.
We took our 5 and 7 year old on this easy flat dirt trail hike. Parked in the main lot. Followed the road part way back up to the sign marking the trail. The trail goes along the river under the road overpass. Just over half mile each way. We could hear the falls before we could see them. Gorgeous view. Seems like some people park along the main road and take a shortcut down. We didn't stay to explore the park but saw that they have a bathroom.

Beautiful area and only a half mile from the parking lot. Come near sunset!

Great area for a picnic. Many areas to wade in waterBathrooms very clean!Asphalt paths are uneven.9 mile walk to Cline Falls. Walk downstream from parking lot. Then take dirt path marked Cline Falls. Take dirt path all the way past the bridge. You are About 6 minute walk from falls once you make it under the bridge. Bridge area has areas where you can get into river at the falls you can’t get in unless you go further down stream.

The parking lot is easy to miss when coming from the east. However, once you make it down a narrow road at the entry, the parking lot is pretty spacious. We were greeted by a flock of ducks in the parking lot. There are restrooms, porta-potty, and picnic tables in the parking area. You’ll have to walk back up the entry road to find the entrance to the Cline Falls trail. The river is quite high right now and so you may have to walk pretty close up to the main road to find trail that isn’t too close to the water. The trail is definitely still muddy and slick in spots. It is not a flat trail and has spots with inclines/declines, as well as places with lots of rocks/boulders on the trail. You’ll follow the trail under the underpass. Once on the other side, you’ll walk aways further until you intersect a paved trail - don’t follow this. Cross it and keep on heading straight (north). This should take you straight to the falls! Overall a beautiful place to walk. Just over about a mile in and out. Would bundle up, as it is still quite chilly even with the sun out.

Beautiful area but the infrastructure of the park is aging badly. Uneven sidewalks, garbage on the ground, including lovely things like a tampon applicator. I saw a spot for a park host, but there was nobody staying there. Just needs TLC to bring it back to really nice.

My little heaven a little away from home love coming here, love hiking to the short easy walk to the falls. The park has always been well maintained and the restrooms

Trail to cline falls is mainly stroller friendly but stroller had to he carried over some rocks. Great easy hike with lovely views. Perfect for a family especially with younger children
Quincee K — Google review
Even during the cold weather it is still a nice place to experience. This is a cool April morning but perfect to take a walk along the river upstream or downstream. Downstream is towards the falls and upstream is just a nice peaceful walk with nothing in the world bothering you.The ducks there are comfy enough with people that they waddle up to you and expect something, so all I could do is talk to them. HahahhahahSuch calm and peacefulness with the wind blowing and the only thing in front of you is the path to the next spot.
Javi — Google review
This park is a great place for families to enjoy the river, with smooth waters that are not deep. We took the hike to Cline Falls, which is mostly an easy hike just more than a half mile, with a bit of uneven terrain. To get the best view of the falls will take moderate rock climbing skills which can be done by most people who are reasonably in shape. The falls offer a great place to explore as the water was not very deep. Excellent place to spend an hour or two with the family!

A spur of the moment decision to take my daughter to Cline Falls turned out to be good one. The weather was perfect for the cold, mountain fed Deschutes River, with the added bonus of other children to play with & of course a good venue to fly my drones it was a 5☆ day.I certainly would recommend others to visit this popular location.

Easy 1/2 mile desert trail to the falls. Little spots along the way to stop and put your feet in if you want!

If you’re ever in Bend or Redmond I would highly recommend this little nature slice of paradise, the river was relatively low wade wise…It was still too cold to swim for any chunk of times but the birds, the rocks in the river etc all help make this a great respite from the work/travel life.I’ve seen the birds fly by, the dragonflies mate, and the wildlife stroll by. 🥰
Jedidiah D — Google review
What a great park on the river. Day use, spacious, easy for any size rig.
Steve C — Google review
The area around the parking area is beautiful but if you really want a view hike towards the freeway and under the overpass all the way down to the falls. The view is breathtakingly beautiful. Keeping hiking for several miles to get to several other falls. to see them and get back is an all day trek. Hiking from Cline Falls is the only way to get to them.

Outdoor Activities
Pilot Butte is a prominent cinder cone butte located in Bend, Oregon. It is an extinct volcano and one of the few cities in the continental U.S. that has a dormant volcano within city limits. The 480 foot tall peak features a popular hiking trail which spirals to its summit, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. For hundreds and thousands of years, Pilot Butte served as a beacon and landmark for settlers and native people before them.
A pretty nice lookout point at the top. A decently sized path up but I'm sure some would argue it is narrow. Parking is a hit or miss depending on the time as it gets busy later in the day when the sun is setting. The air quality being ok in Bend really kills the view since you can't see the mountains clearly and only make out the outlines.
William M — Google review
Cool cinder cone with a road to the top. The trails are great! Must visit if in Bend.
CSL — Google review
Great view of the entire area, only downside I think is the hikers should have their own trail or a wider trail so it's safer for people/cars
Shane N — Google review
Great 360° view, including the beautiful Cascade mountains, from Mt. Bachelor to Mt. Hood, on a clear day. If driving, go slowly and watch for hikers and joggers.
Denise L — Google review
Amazing 360 degree views! A very nice hike up to the top or for those less capable you can also drive up during the day to take in the views.

Great place for sunset and to see all the mountains around Bend

I love/hate hiking. The view at the top is 100% worth the pain of walking uphill lol. :)

Pilot Butte has a great vantage point to see a lot of great scenery across Bend, including various mountains, volcanos, lava fields and a caldera. The National Forest Service has a ranger at the top during their working hours and are helpful in explaining what you're looking at. There is also a fire ranger station there, but they're on duty, so limited conversations with them.Tips:- If you're going in summer, be mindful that there is barely any shade, so bring ample sunscreen, hat and water.- No bathrooms at the top of the butte, so go before!- You can walk the quarter mile around the caldera, but it's fairly rocky. Wear close-toed / appropriate shoes.- If you have a car, you can park at the top (limited to ~10 cars). The National Forest Service suggests you take the bus. It comes every 20 mins. It's $3 roundtrip per person. Cash only.

This is really a must-see stop that is so easy to overlook and take for granted. You're out of town guests will thank you for taking the time and withstanding the heat for the history and the view!

A must visit if you come to Bend. This hill has a small road (that is currently, at least as of June 2021, closed to traffic and motor vehicles and only bikes and pedestrians can access to) in a spiral that reaches to the top. There are no straight line shortcuts and it is quite steep and long, so allow at least 30 minutes to get all the way up, but believe me, it is totally worth it. You will have, on a clear-sky day, views to the city from above and of course all the mountains to the west, north and south, most of the year snow covered. At the top there are some information panels and signs and 360 degree views as well.
Trachemysta — Google review
Beautiful place to soak in a very nice sunset. Great view of Bend with the different mountains in the horizon. No fee park too - what more can you ask ? So 5 stars 🌟 for this location.

Beautiful spot, but you cannot access it before 8-10am unless you walk to it from afar. Trailheads are closed and all nearby parking is by permit only.

A great place to get a lay of the land. You can drive or hike to the top. On the weekends it tends to be a bit crowded at the top, but there's a lot of room for cars at the circle. The seating is good, the views are amazing, and there's TONs of info plaques.

You can drive almost to the top of this former volcano, but the hiking trail is much nicer.
Uwe H — Google review
Get there before sunset. It gets busy. Parking is almost always parallel parking only and TIGHT, but you can't get a better 360 degree view of the Bend Valley, with amazing sunsets of the mountain range. Almost magical to watch the sun go down and the lights come on at night.Bring a jacket or sweat shirt as it gets cool and windy as you're literally on the top of a volcano cone!
James C — Google review
Great views all around! Beautiful old juniper trees, flowers and sage and more.

An awesome view point to see Bend and the mountains covering Bend. Awesome sunset point. Less Parking spots..Go early. It gives details of the mountains which can be seen from there. Could see lot of locals hanging around. Everyone were pretty decent and I could over hear one of them explaining the mountain range.

I advise you to give em a shot and see for urself!!! Promise u won't be disappointed although small establishment, could generally create a rememberable experience and add a little bit more money to ur pocket. Show them some love u won't regret

It's a smaller casino which is just fine for a quick stop-in to grab a snack & beverage while dropping a few bucks in the machines. It's a nice stop to stretch your legs when heading to and from Central Oregon.

Dirty, run-down facility full of vagrants and many offline slot machines. The main restaurant is rarely open, and the secondary restaurant can be compared to a school cafeteria. It's not worth the stop. Stay safe and keep driving.

They were great about taking temps when entering. Very polite. It was the first time ever stopping here, though we've driven through the little town many times. It's small. And all we seemed able to locate were penny slots. If they have anything else, I apologize. We just didn't see anything else . Convenient cash in machines made it easy to exchange vouchers, and some machines took the vouchers cashed out from other machines. Very convenient.

I have so much fun when I stop by here. It's off of HWY 26 and you really can't miss it. This casino is spacious and easy to get around in. The variety of games and prices are ample. The staff are friendly and they have plenty of staff around to help or assist when needed. Payouts aren't great but I play for fun, right? The experience is a good one.

This was my first time at this casino. My fiance and I took a good friend there as a birthday gift and we all had a lot of fun! The inside is beautiful, they have free soda available too. For fun, they should buy at least a couple very old school slots that actually pays out in actual coins. Anyone older than 40 knows the satisfaction of hearing those coins dropping in the bin. This casino is very well layed out, with lots of exciting games. Lots of 1c slots which is awesome. They have days of the week where there are promotions like nifty fifty on Tuesday when we went and we got $20 free play which was cool. That went pretty quick but I did put in $10 in a penny slot and cashed out at $174! First time I've ever won anything. Pretty cool for my first time. But I'd recommend it if you love casinos!

This casino is pretty fun to go to, it's like a kick back and relax, gamble a little bit then go home. It's got a good variety of games. The lady who works at the bonus club was sweet and kind to assist me with my bonus club card multiple times and without losing her cool and just with a smile. The restaurant isn't really the best though but I would recommend the tule bar that is where the good food is.The restaurant does offer a buffet but it doesn't offer a large variety it's very small. And the cheese burger I had wasn't the best I couldn't even taste cheese .

Me and my wife were passing through from Oregon headed to Seattle on vacation and stopped at Indian Head casino now I have read the reviews about this casino and you have to remember that this is not the old days trying to hustle casinos to make a living just isn't going to happen anymore it's not in the cards trust me. If you use this establishment for what it was intended for a person can have a great time and not leave here with negative comments. Everybody meaning staff that works here was extremely friendly and we had a great time.

Fun lighting inside. Clean bathrooms too. I played the slots here and spent it at the buffet. The buffet is pricey and just OK, unless you are REALLY hungry and will get your money's worth. Better to eat at the shops outside if you are not so hungry. You can usually get Indian Tacos, pretty good and inexpensive.
Joe G — Google review
I have a serviced animal and was asked to leave. They broke hippa laws by asking what his service letter is for. There were other dogs inside the casino so I believe this was a hate crime as I looked visibly queer with rainbow socks on. The security guard proceeded to tell me I can leave my dog in the car when it is 100 degrees outside.

We decided to pop in and absolutely loved it! We especially loved the fact that it's a smoke-free casino. The staff is super nice and friendly, and all the slots fun to play. We will definitely be back to spend more time, especially if we come to see a concert here.

My husband and I happened to find this wonderful place while looking for a place to do his 34 hr break. Was happy to find they had truck parking. This is one of the most friendly Casinos we've been to in awhile. Every employee we encountered was awesome. Had a great variety of slot games and some table games. We had the buffet on Friday night and have to say the food was amazing. PRIME RIB was best I've ever had. Shout out to Miss Jamie and to Kainan who works at the Tulle Grill you both took care of us this weekend. Thank yall for an amazing time. P.S my husband lost the spare key to our truck in there somewhere. Hopefully yall find it 🙏

This clean and friendly casino provided fun and good food for my wife and I last night. The holiday decor was beautiful. The entire facility was very clean, rest rooms, machines and Tule Grill. We were not hesitant to order food. The bacon cheese burger was good and full of fresh condiments. My wife enjoyed the fries. They did have alcoholic beverages. Some machines didn’t pay much, but we were able to find higher paying machines and walked out with hundreds. We had been to Ilani a couple nights before and didn’t have near the positive experience we had at Indian Head. Small enough not to be overwhelmed. Friendly staff. Clean environment. Good food. Good pays. Good night. We will be back.

Honestly this place just needs a fresh update but hopefully if it happens they should totally keep that vintage casino vibe with a modern twist. I hope after Kay-Nee-Tah opens this summer this reservation will get the resources it deserves to grow more. Definitely suggest stopping on the way to central Oregon and support this community.
Cameron O — Google review
It's an older casino. Has a late 60's early 70's feel. They offer free coffee, but the soda machines are not working. We walked into the restaurant and waited to be seated. No one came over. We walked to check out the salad bar and walked away.We ordered Philly steak and cheese sandwich from the grill restaurant. The sandwiches came on what appeared to be hot dog buns and I counted just two tiny squares of bell pepper and one tiny onion. It tasted microwaved. However the french fries were terrific. My dad and stepmom love this casino, but it's more for the much older crowd.I saw a backpack sitting on the bench right out the front door and notified security. They said no backpacks are allowed inside. Just was weird to see a backpack alone. Made me think of the bombs that have gone off while inside of backpacks.

I am a bit torn how what stars to give this year! I absolutely love the area! It's veiws are incredible and the lake is huge. A ton to due while there. We stay at Cove Palisades campgroud; this year we arrived on a Thursday for labor day weekend and at 10:16pm we were aggressively told by a female older Grey haired women that works for Oregon State Parks, "that we were not allowed to laugh"! We were just sitting in a circle having conversations.. Sadly this continued the entire weekend exactly at 10pm. When I asked her name and started recording she left and got the police. I have reported her to Oregon state park along with others that were there.Stat smart and be safe. Enjoy your visit.

This was a fun campground with beautiful high desert terrain all around it. The staff kept the campground very clean and we had water and power hook ups which was really convenient. There was a huge herd of deer hanging around that were fun to watch. The campsite also had a volleyball court in the center for public use and swings for the kids. The restrooms were extremely clean. The campground was a little ways away from the lake area - about a five minute drive. Overall a very fun place to camp.

Absolutely beautiful! Like nothing I have ever seen before! I've been to the Grand Canyon and I've now been here. Between the two I'd rather go here again.
Kato L — Google review
Ugly, boring place. Completely unsuitable for swimming. Water was green, and no decent place to hike or hang out by the water, in the tripple digit heat. Campsites are too close to each other. Got told by another camper to stop walking through "his campsite" to go to the bathroom, when everyone else was doing the same thing. The rangers were nice, but the place is very poorly managed. So many dogs and unpleasant people at the campground, and the lakeshore and roads were crowded with rowdy teenagers, who were basically doing whatever they wanted. This is definitely not a place to come relax in nature.

Absolutely love the Cove Palisades! Great park with facilities for use. Great swimming area, awesome for boating and water sports. Lots of parking, and trailer parking. The water in the summer is often warm. The down side it the amount of algae that is in the lake. Another negative is the amount of goose poop along the shore and in the picnic area. The water is often cloudy green. Huge lake with plenty of space to recreate on the water. From end to end it can take about an hour by boat.

Best lake in the whole state of Oregon, my entire family comes here every year to cool of in the pristine water in the summer before my dad has to go back to work. The rangers are very helpful and at the camp ground they put on a amazing show for all ages to teach you about wild life and history of this high desert lake that has filled my family's faces with smiles for many generations. The day use area has a pet friendly area that keeps dogs away from people who don't want to be near them while providing a area where dogs can relax and cool off. The day use area has many picnic tables on the beach and in the pet friendly area. If you want a picnic area with shade you might want to head to the lake early and place some chairs or a quick shade to reserve your table. The restrooms at the day use area are very accessible and have showers. The camp ground play ground is a great spot to take your kids.

This place was awesome to stay with my family! We got the upper camp ground on top of the canyon, so there's weren't as many trees as there were the lower camp grounds in the canyon, but it was still a super nice place! The showers and bathrooms were pretty clean for a public campground, with plenty of hot water, and everyone's got a little space around their spot, so there was no cramping. The camper and RV hookups were simple and good, and they have sink tank dumping every few camp spots; also, slightly further in are two sewage dumps, which were clean and convenient. All around, it was a great stay! Just with my younger brothers (who aren't so young; all three between the ags of 13 - 17, and also my 11 y/o sister) knew how to cover their mouths when they're sick. Pretty disappointing to come home from a nice getaway with a cold 😭

We drove south on the Oregon Scenic ByWay Hwy 97 through Central Oregon to The Cove Palisades State Park. The small towns, farmers fields and mountain peaks make this a truly scenic drive. The Cove Palisades State Park is a short drive off the hwy 97 with goods signs at every turn. The signs provide a better route then Google maps. The state park is magnificent, but the campground is rather disappointing. It is not located on the water or within easy walking distance. Some beaches are only accessible via steep trails from the parking lots. Too steep for us. It is a 5-mile drive from the campground back to the picnic area with parking level to the beach. There is a resort in the park that is on the water which we wish we had booked instead of the state park campground. There are hiking trails with great views that we enjoyed and one playground at the far end of the campground. Free showers, lots of camp hosts on duty, ice for sale, clean, well managed campground. Lots of sites with power and water plus a dump station nearby. Campsites are narrow with lots of large rocks. Paved pads are pretty level. Road above the canyon has lookouts that are worth a small side trip. Town nearby for supplies.

Great in May before everything dries out. Arrow-leaf balsams in full bloom along with the scant rest of the variety of wildflowers blooming. Gorgeous gorge if you pardon the pun. Just be careful come June when the green-horses start pooping in the lake (locals know what I mean), it doesn’t really bother anything, it’s just kinda funny to think you’re jumping into ‘THAT!’ Have fun and stay safe, the bottom is 400’ below, so don’t sink.

Five stars in Autumn. Did the loop trail from Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery to Lower Bridge than back on the other side of the river. Went there at early October, a lot of Falls color and the water are so clear. The hike is around 6 miles round trip easy hike. It is rare that you could hike on the edge of the river most of the way. The river is also a hot spot for fly fishing.

Beautiful walk to the metolius river viewpoint. The ponderosa pines are gorgeous here. The chipmunks are also very curious here. There is a large parking area at the viewpoint and vaulted pit toilets that can get pretty stinky during the day and also a walk in camp. There is a picnic area as well. Benches at the river viewing area and some along the way. 8/13/18

Rated one of the top 3 most pristine rivers in the United States with some of the best fly fishing for trophy trout anywhere. It starts underground from west of the Cascades and emerges out of the rocks near Camp Sherman. At the end of the pathway where you can just sit and enjoy the beauty of Central Or. Take a step back in time and relax. It's good for the soul

Beautiful place to visit or camp. An amazing natural resource to be experienced.

There is a gorgeous hiking trail near Camp Sherman that leads to the fish hatchery. There are a few small waterfalls and the river is ver clear with amazing blue and green colors.

Very nice stroll along a beautiful spring fed river. Pristine waters. Easy walk.

An incredibly beautiful river, eleven different well-maintained campsites, the charming Camp Sherman store, and The intriguing Fish Hatchery. Honestly this place has something fun for everyone! Yet another reason my family's been camping there for over 60 years.
Justin B — Google review
Rated one of the top 3 most pristine rivers in the United States with some of the best fly fishing for trophy trout anywhere. It starts underground from west of the Cascades and emerges out of the rocks near Camp Sherman. At the end of the pathway where you can just sit and enjoy the beauty of Central Or. Take a step back in time and relax. It's good for the soul

Next time I look forward to exploring more & finding river access trails.

Drake Park, located in downtown Bend, is a 13-acre retreat with a pond and picnic tables that is home to nesting great horned owls. The park has many benches and paths for walking or biking, as well as a small theater where indie films can be seen.
Always love visiting this park while in Bend. It's absolutely beautiful and makes a lovely morning or afternoon stroll. You can walk around the whole pond, meander through the quaint neighborhood surrounding the park, and stop at a local eatery or coffee shop across the way. Gorgeous every time of year!!

So beautiful!! A park across the bank of mirror pond - it’s so blissful, enjoyable and worth spending infact the day. The mirror pond is the heart of the beauty with its shallow water feature. Get your kayak or paddleboat and you’re set to enjoy. Visitors can relax in the peaceful setting and watch ducks, geese and luscious greenery and tall trees. Loved it.

Nice park to walk with the toddler and baby. Nice to have a local nice park. Is safe here and you get to enjoy the river view while you walk and check out people walking too.

Nice spot to sit and have your lunch or play some Frisbee. Some areas are under construction, so be careful next to the lake. Seems like the workers are "milking" their contract since both Phase 1 & 2 are unfinished.

In the cool of a Sunday morning we walked along here with coffees in hand enjoying the well kept foliage and river. Wonderful place with great bathrooms and water fountains. Watch out for goose poo!

Nice park, but tons of bird poo on the walkways, but none the less great and historical park. I enjoyed looking at the river and crossing the old pedestrian bridge that leads into west bend.

i think we got real lucky here. i took this pics last week and it felt like the first real spring day, you know what i mean? It wasnt windy, the light breezes almost felt warm, so sunny and people were all on awful good moods! if you’re visiting Bend, I definitely recommend you to make a quick stop here especially on weekends when they have live music and little artisanal booths selling art, jewelry and other local goodies! #visitBend

Great place to relax by the river. Cool mini amphitheater and lots of spots to sit by the river. Close to lots of shops and food too.

Wonderful place to just walk around and explore. Especially if you have never been there like myself. If you are familiar with any of the famous brews of the local Deschutes Brewery, well this is exactly where Mirror Pond is located with an impressive little foot bridge that spans over the water. It seems to be like the type of park that is central and committed to the little City. No offense as I love the area being the outdoors type of person I am. Not sure but I heard that there's entertainment of sorts on site during the sunny days there, which could be fun or at least interesting. If you are ever in that area and happen to be working on a pint or sum pub grub in any of the local establishments, just ask an employee which direction and what a great way to burn some calories. Cheers 🍻 !

It is a beautiful park spanning a decent sized area with walkways (paved trails), benches, tables, restrooms, and outlets at the small stage. Many trees and shade, as well as sunny/exposed areas. The views of the river are gorgeous, and it is nice to have waterfowl to observe. The biggest downside is the droppings near everywhere as you get closer to the river. It is only an issue if fresh, wet, and you have smaller children wanting to play. The same is true with those in wheelchair using the paved trail along the river (parts still in construction).
Anabel H — Google review
This is one of my favorite, and probably the most famous park in Bend, there's plenty of benches, tables for picnics, and beaches along the river. Look for historical pieces as well! This is also the main place where floaters get out off the river. You can ride the bus for $4 all day, it will bring you up to RiverBend park. The bus begins its season around June 15th. See you on the river!!

My family had a great day floating the river. Ended up at Drake Park which is really nice. We had never been on the Deschutes before so this was an experience. Really fun and not at all dangerous. Shallow slow moving section of the river. Very relaxed and easy even for my 8 year old daughter.

This park was busy with the floaters pulling their tunes out of the water, but it was still a relaxing area to lounge around and watch the river

The Good- My favorite river walk so far for a low key experience. People in hammocks, kids and dogs having fun. 😎The Bad- - The lemonade sold by wandering artists but the bridge to fund their Burning Man trip is WEAK SAUCE!Kast's Tip- Treat yourself to a few hours so relaxing and so close.

The High Desert Museum, located near Bend, Oregon, is a hands-on museum that showcases the natural and cultural history of Eastern Oregon. Visitors can learn about the exploration and settlement of the West through reenactments of Native American camps, hard-rock mines, and old Western towns. The museum also explores the region's natural history with live exhibits featuring snakes, tortoises, trout, birds of prey, and otters. Guided walks and programs are available for an enriching experience.
Awesome place for the whole family. Absolutely worth the stop. They have a great Cafe with good beer for a break between exhibits. Numerous exhibits range from outdoor Otter exhibit which is great, to very informative educational interactive exhibits inside. There are constantly changing features too, which keeps it new and exciting. Such a good spot.

Love, love, love the High Desert Museum! This is a great museum that has something for everyone. Whether you are interested in native peoples of the Oregon high desert area or birds of prey, or otters, this place will not disappoint. I love that they also have displays of historical and contemporary art as it relates to people from the high desert communities. I will definitely be visiting this place again in the near future! A+++

Stopped in with the whole family on a busy Saturday afternoon. No line to get in and the admissions area was well organized and got us in quick. This is a very well-done museum with a whole lot to see. We spent about 2.5 hours walking around 3 miles, seeing all the interesting displays. All the boys were interested and had a great time seeing the animals and the Bigfoot display. The otters were my favorite. Even though it was over 100 degrees outside, the walk around the outdoor section wasn't too bad. The sawmill and old ranch setup out back is a step back in time. This is probably one of the three best museums in Oregon in my opinion and top 5 in the western half of the country that I have been too. If you haven't been and enjoy this kind of thing, this is worth the drive and the price of admission. Also if you have Snap you can get in for 2 dollars per person, 2 adults and up to 4 kids I think I read. But even at the regular price of 20 per adult, it is highly recommended.

Even though it was 34 and raining, we LOVED this museum. The native American section was awesome. The desert section was awesome. The bird exhibits with eagles and falcons was awesome. And, of course, the otters were otterly awesome. Great way to spend a morning with 2 kids!

Great museum with incredible displays. Most employees were friendly and informative. At one point after seeing the 1904 exhibit we followed footprints in the snow which led us towards a backdoor. Since one of us was in a walking cast we thought we could get back into the building from that direction. Suddenly, one of the rudest and most unhelpful employees I have ever had the displeasure of being in her presence appeared and rudely sent us back the way we came.

Lovely Museum close to bend and sunriver. This place is great for kids and adults, they have animals and fun exhibits. The animals and working farm and sawmill are all great, the raptors are cool and the pioneer trail walkthrough museum is such a nice setup. Lots of cool statues and art installations throughout. I wish the giftshop had more 'high desert museum' or 'bend or' swag, its mostly things from local artists, which is cool, but not the swag i was looking for. There is absolutely no reason for someone not to stop here if in the area with kids.
Neil B — Google review
Nice small museum with a couple of Owls, Bald vulture and a Gila monster. More for small kids. The otters were fun to watch. Close to Bend. Worth about an hour or so.

We had a wonderful time! The museum is beautiful with amazing animal exhibits, historical recreation that had original items, and so much to see and interact with to learn about the area. There was even a raptor (birds of prey) exhibit. We were there all day, and still had not seen everything there was to offer. It's a wonderful experience for the whole family!

Thinking back on the memories of my life, the High Desert Museum stands out as one of the greatest places I’ve been. It definitely evokes great memories. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. I have been here with my family several times, and this place never ceases to surprise me, in a good way. They have beavers, birds, cats, and very informative and educational exhibit. Their historical portrayal of events and the way people lived give you a great education of the past. I would recommend this place for anybody looking for a great day out in nature.

Fantastic place to visit, far all ages, very educational, very easy parking, very helpful and knowledgeable staff. The out door part is amazing it takes you back in time, if you are lucky you can cach the lady making ice cream. If you want to see the birds show make sure you get there before 5 pm. The all museum is superb, definitely a great place to see if you are in the area.Reasonable priced great gift shop.I am coming back.

How does super fun time with the 5 year old we saw everything there was to see. It wasn't too busy nor was it expensive. With all the interactive ScenesTo all the Critter is you're able to look at. It's a good spot for both children and adults. I learned an absolute bunch while I was there. There were so many helpful volunteers who would walk you through exhibits explain to you whatever you wanted. Definitely needs to be more museums and places like this. Honest goodness fun for the entire family!

We go to the museum, whenever we're in town! The otters are my absolute favorite, they are the most adorable for a clowns imaginable. On our last trip we were lucky enough to be able to purchase the raptor experience. Tickets. Not only are the birds beautiful, the handlers are teaching both birds and people about conservancy. It was a wonderful experience! Unfortunately, during our trip a wild hawk decided to take place in the show, luckily the peregrine falcon was not harmed! Truly a wonderful experience, highly recommended!

This place is wonderful, and what a joy to walk around and learn about the high desert. Oregon is such a diverse state. It has something for everyone. This is definitely a place to come and visit. Now, usually, I am not excited by museum food. But, I am happy that I ate here, delicious. It's one of the best Ahi Tuna.I say, go spend a day here and enjoy the best of Oregon.

They do such a great job of showing everything bend has to offer from raptors and wildlife, to the history of native Americans, and the Subaru with the Sasquatch all over it! We did the raptor show which I highly suggest, FYI if you have little kids they have to sit for 30 minutes. The first time we tried my son was too young but we were successful today a couple years later! The raptor show is so well done! Worth the 5$ and it goes to a good cause of course! We love the porcupine, who was sleeping at the top of the dead tree in his exhibit the whole time!

Cool place. Lots to see. But I like to learn and see things. The 10, 13, and 73 year olds got bored after a few exhibits and were ready to leave. I could easily spend half a day here. Lots to see indoors and outdoors.
David H — Google review
The museum itself was nice. it was sad to see the animals and small confined areas. I just don’t think that animals should be placed in cages or in confined glass show cases. A museum should be historical artifacts and that’s how they should’ve left this museum. Would I go back, probably not.

A wonderful experience with the family :) I had kids ranging from 16 to 5 and they loved it. The raptors of the sky was an amazing show! A must-see ❤️ easy trails, easy directions, incredibly helpful staff and all the cute critters. The new exhibits for Native culture is informative and heartfelt. You can tell that this place is well cared for - a must see.

Loved the laid-back, natural atmosphere. The National Geographic Wolf exhibit by Ronan Donovan was fantastic. The Native exhibit is also very good. The artifacts collected and donated by Doris Swayze Bounds are amazing. We also enjoyed the talks given by the volunteers. They are interesting and well presented. The river otters are very entertaining and fun to watch. It is well worth visiting.

This place was incredible. The Bigfoot section and the Western mining section were so cool to see. The Western mining part had my nephew and I turned around because while walking through, you walk down hill. Once we realized how we had walked, we tried to figure out where we were inside the building. It was awesome! The only section we were not overly impressed with was the nocturnal animals section. It just didn't offer much. But overall, this place was amazing.

Wonderful way to spend a couple hours of time! The birds of prey were super cool! There are two walk-through exhibits (one on Native Americans and one on early colonization) Both are very informative and have awesome displays! When we went the cougar and porky pine weren't out 😩Over all it was 20 dollars well spent!
Kenneth B — Google review
The museum was amazing and all the exhibits in it caught our attention and had the kids stopping to ask 100 questions or start insightful conversations, but I loved how much there was to do outside. The walks between outdoor exhibits like the Ranch and the Otter Encounter were gorgeous and a great way to stretch legs in between so much learning. All the animal talks we were to were amazing, I'd recommend trying to get to as many as you can. (Our favorites were the otters and the birds of prey one.)We didn't think we'd get hungry but we did, and ended up sharing some stuff in the cafe. I was surprised by how good all the food was... it wouldn't win any big awards but compared to other museum/zoo cafeterias this food was really really good.

Recommend.Great mix of high desert plateau knowledge from its people to animals.Went on a Monday late-morning. Loved the live intreprative events (check schedule before arriving).

This was so cool, my only regret is that we couldn't spend more time and see the whole thing! I planned this as our last stop before we left Bend to head back to Portland. I'm so glad I saw suggestions for this! This is almost a combination museum/sanctuary. It was $20 per ticket, totally worth it. We started the inside section seeing a porcupine and a bobcat! We made our way to the sasquatch exhibit along with an exhibit on the history of the high desert. We only had about an hour or so we could spend here, sadly, so we were careful with our time. We watched the river otter talk that afternoon (so cute!!!) and then headed over to the birds of prey. They were absolutely beautiful! The birds were all able to be there with government permission because they either imprinted on humans or were hurt and couldn't survive in the wild. These birds were biiiiig! It's almost peaceful in that area because they ask you to be quiet because noise startles the birds, and for a while it was just the 2 of us wandering so it was pretty silent which was nice. They were doing a show on wolves in that section a little later, which we weren't able to stick around for, but it sounded really neat. The map explained that the loop outside to see the different exhibits was about a half mile long. It would have been great to see everything, so definitely make the time if you have it! They even have kennels outside in the shade with water in case you are traveling with your dogs. I would definitely come back here!

On July 17, 2024, we stopped at the High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon. At the museum, we explored exhibits that cover the region's unique wildlife, culture, and history. It’s fascinating how this museum not only features live animals but also has an extensive collection of Native American artifacts. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area!

This is one of the coolest museums I've ever been too! Obviously the themes center around the high desert, but also the entire pacific northwest. Lots of exhibits about Indians and Indian life, as well as early settlers. Then there's several exhibits centered around wildlife with animals and a wing devoted to otters and another wing too birds of prey. Take note that all wild life here were injured at one time and are rehabilitated but unable to be released. Kind of expensive but the facility is massive and you can spend multiple hours here. Lots of photos attached.

My partner grew up in Bend and has been excited to show me this attraction, we finally went together on a Wednesday and I was quite impressed by this museum, which featured a variety of good exhibits and things to see. They have some beautiful wild desert animals, from wildcats to birds to otters, and all of them were fun to check out. I liked viewing the artifacts they have and tidbits of history in their regular exhibits, plus the little interactive rooms that they have. There was a cool little Sasquatch exhibit when I visited that made interesting noises and had awesome artwork, very Pacific Northwest in vibes. I also liked checking out the outdoor area, even though the weather wasn't the nicest when my boyfriend and I visited, it was a good walk. It wasn't crowded when we came on a weekday and we missed the kiddos who appeared to be leaving from a field trip. The gift shop had a lot to offer as well for good prices. Staff seemed rather standoffish, but I didn't mind.

I heard on the radio they had a Sasquatch exhibit and i could not pass it up!Also, i heard they had river otters and they were very cute and fun to watch.Enjoy the video.Plenty of parking

I got there after 4p and they close at 5p. I was offered three options since <1hr is not enough to see everything. (1) pay 70% (2) pay full price, see what you can before 5p and return the next day to complete your visit. (3) come back when you have more time. I opted for option 1. I was given some suggestions on how to maximize my time. I had to see the otters! They were so cute! I was going to go back inside to take my time in the Spirit of the West Exhibit but decided to walk briskly through the other outdoor sites: the High Desert Ranch and Sawmill, The Changing Forest, Birds of Prey Center.I didn't have time to thoroughly explore the By Hand Through Memory. I skipped the Desertarium and Collin's Gallery due to the time constraint. I would love to come back to spend a few hours here.

My family and I visited the museum and we had a wonderful time! I broke my toe right before our trip to Sunriver, and the museum has several wheelchairs available for guests to use. The staff is kind, friendly, caring, and respectful. I really appreciate their help to make my experience on our trip special and worry free. They were wonderful, thank you!The museum is definitely a great place to visit if you're in the area; we loved each exhibit! Everything felt clean, organized, special, and interesting. It's a high quality museum/animal sanctuary! All the animals are very well cared for.

Pretty wonderful place. Clean and lots of volunteer staff. I appreciate all the work they do here. Love the Ingenious exhibit. The owls, the insects, the on-site insect specialist on Wedsdays. The dining is really good as well. The live timber mill experience is great if you can go in warm weather. Otters are awesome. Great place to spend an hour or half a day. Great for all ages.Things i dont like are:The falcon show is lame and needs to be improved. A talk that just goes on forever without any interaction, and you might get yelled at for sneezing or looking at the falcon wrong. The touring exhibits are 2 to 1, kinda lame. I would prefer they cycle better choices. Tue last one was Andy Warhol. He was a poser artist. Nobody cares. The gift shop needs to ditch all the woke junk. Lame. Keep it real.

I went today with my adult children. And we recreated the pictures from when they were 6 and 10, 15 and 20. This place only gets better with time. The exhibits are sensational. Not going to the high desert museum when you are in this area should be a crime. 🩷

I love coming here with my nephews. There is always so much to see and experience. And although it's really educational, its also a lot of fun too.My favorite exhibits are the fox and the otters, but all are great.During Christmas break, we brought my nephews here for the Winter Nights event and had such a great time making cookies, trying local brews, listening to winter stories and checking out the Wolf exhibit.I highly recommend if you are looking for something fun to do!

I learned so much about the Native American peoples of that region through the collection of beautiful and historical artifacts; learned about native plants, trees and types of habitats for wildlife and about the effect of beneficial and catastrophic forest fire. There's so much to see at this museum and something for all ages and tastes: art, sculpture, history, raptors and otters, interactive exhibits for kids, walking trails, a ranch, a sawmill, a pond. So glad I visited!

Again, I give this National Monument a five star rating. It was way more interesting than I had expected. Central. Oregon has so many amazing natural wonders to see. Lava Lands is no exception. You get to really see how this area was formed. For a nominal fee, there is a bus that will take you to the top of Lava Butte. It's well worth it. Once you get to the top, you can see the entire Cascade Range and the true scope and power of the volcanic action. There are tons of beautiful trails to take, including some bike friendly trails. We took the hike to Benham Falls and it was gorgeous!

Very cool place to stop if you love geology. The whole site is really clean and maintained well. Tons of really awesome educational displays and information. If you have the opportunity definitely check out the lava tube. It's really mind blowing to walk on and walk through cooled and hardened lava rock. It really humbles you to see the heat, pressures, and geological conditions around a volcano that created the blast to begin with. Earth is amazing ...

My family and I visited in September 2018, but I didn't post my pictures. It was a little windy, but it was still beautiful and a wonderful visit! Amazing that this park wouldn't be here without a volcanic eruption! There's a decent amount of walking on the path up to the lookout point, so if you can't walk long or slightly inclined walks, you may not want to go. But, the view is breathtaking!!

4 of 5 stars since the visitor center was closed. It's just because it was midweek and near the end of the season (I think). Information about what's open and closed is a bit unclear. The lava cave is closed and the road up to the lava butte was closed too.The Trail of the Molten Land and the Trail of the Whispering Pines was really cool! Definitely worth a return visit next season. I may pop down there tomorrow, Friday when the visitor center is open.

This was a very nice place, we took our dog 🐕 for a nice walk. We did not go too far because our dog is not the best around a lot of people. nice visitors center.

Artificial lake in a desert canyon, known for fishing & water sports, with campsites & houseboats.
We camped at Perry South campground. Got a nice corner spot next to the fresh water pump. There was plenty of shade. The lake is huge by our standards, and Chinook Island is a great place to spend an afternoon. We caught Kokanee and bass. Oh, and the campsite bathrooms were clean and didn't smell.

Amazing place to vacation. We camped at Crooked River Campground in the Cove Palisades State Park. The campsite was large and the bathrooms were cleaned everyday. Clean showers were a blessing at the end of the day! There was lots of wild life and deer. Hiking trail and small amphitheater area for a large group gathering. AT&T had reception but T-Mobile users were out of luck in camp.Lots of fun on the water. And grassy tree shaded play area for kids on the bank with protected swim area right next to boat launch. Made it easy to take turns on the water with large family. There is a courtesy dock that was extremely useful. There is a kayak launch too. Great to board kayak roller launch into water easy . There is a marina for fuel and general store for things you forgot( like a case of water) . Lots of opportunity to rent house boats, jet skis and other watercraft.Would suggest to go to “clear water” where the green water of Lake Billy Schnook meets the fresh mountain river. The water in the river is crystal clear and cold which is a big contrast to the green warm water of Billy Schnook. The rock canyon walls are beautiful. Lava, pressure and time have created works of art. Nature is beautiful. On land I would suggest to visit the scenic look out points. You can see Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, and the Sisters. ( plus the others in the ring of fire. Don’t know all the names) . We were there 7 days and could have stayed longer.

I went here for a Christian summer camp with my church and I got to meet a lot of new people and make a lot of friends especially kids around my age and some really cool leaders. There were areas where we could go on Shore and hike or walk around if we wanted to we were also able to canoe and swim almost wherever we wanted. We stayed on houseboats and it was a really fun experience to know what it's like to live on a boat and to get closer to God. The only not-so-fun part was the almost a little over eight hour drive but it was still cool because we got to ride the whole way in tour buses that had TVs and USB ports so we have entertainment .I will still definitely be going again next year and making even more memories and strengthening my relationship with God. P. S I just wrote a really long review because I need to level up my tour guide account and to do that I have to make 5 200-plus character reviews.

Had a very nice vacation here during the eclipse. Family had a great time in the swim area of three rivers marina. Well stocked and supplied stores only downfall is public out houses were stinky. All in all, a stellar experience.

Great little reservoir. Be careful of warm weather algae blooms, you can check this online.Otherwise, you can often see roaming horses, eagles and you can fish here.

This lake is perfect for spending the day by the water. It's beautiful, easy to access, allows swimming and has plenty of tables so that finding a comfortable place to park your butt is rarely an issue.

I grew up in Central Oregon and this was one of my favorite swimming holes. It’s a shame that there seems to be a chronic blue-green algae problem in the water. It’s still an excellent spot for boating and camping. The place I last stayed even had an educational program in the canyon every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.

The Sunriver Homeowners Aquatic & Recreation Center, also known as SHARC, is a popular destination in Sunriver offering a variety of activities for families. The facility features multiple pools, water slides, and even a lazy river for visitors to enjoy. Additionally, it hosts disco golf tournaments for those seeking some friendly competition. Whether you're looking to cool off during the summer or enjoy indoor activities during the winter, SHARC has something for everyone.
Nice little aquatic center. Well maintained and reasonably priced. Food and merchandise available on site. Employees are polite and helpful. Guest are from all walks of life and certainly entertaining.

Not bad.. good little community.. shower heads don't really work right and ceiling fans are not all operational. Hot tub was really nice. BBQ grill was dirty and rusted out and barely usable. Had to spend 20 minutes cleaning it just to make dinner. The cabin was clean and really comfortable. Liked being close to stuff but far enough away at the same time.. customer service was really nice.

Very frustrating experience. Went to go tubing, and days listed on website weren’t accurate. They have a reduced schedule, only 3 days, limited hours. So, we came back on the correct day. We were a group of 10 , 3 families, kids of all ages. My wife went in to get 10 passes, but they would not let us have tubes or passes unless all people were present in the people. So, we told everyone to just come in the building, however, they wouldn’t let us in without everyone having a mask. (understandable, but frustrating to try and get entire group in there with masks, as you don’t anticipate needing a mask to go tubing) When we finally figure that out, they wouldn’t give usthe passes; they require staff to manually put the passes on each person (like a lift ticket) yet, not everyone had there snow gear on. Once we figured that all out, got our snow gear, with our masks, returned, they put on the tickets, and then told us my 3 1/2 yr old couldn’t tube ( not posted any were, cutoff is 4 ). To try and figure all that out, and manage several young kids was frustrating. They apologized and said they are understaffed, yet they had about 10 people in blue shirts just standing behind the counter watching, while one person did all the work. In the future, I think it would have been better to have just rented a few sleds and go to a snow park. Way too many frustrating rules, policies, and procedures!

First time visiting. This place was awesome. Plenty of water options for the kids. Kids loved the Fro Yo on the way out! Will go back for sure.

Frustrating experience due to over crowding and poor crowd management. Need the reservation system to come back and more swimming options in SR. Kids left really disappointed, they shouldn’t allow families with young kids to wait in the heat like that. Plan to wait an hour before the allotted time to get in.

What a wonderful place to play in the pool with my kiddo while mama bear relaxes in the large outdoor no-kid hot tub after a long day running around Sunriver. It is best when snowing. Summer operations adds the outdoor area and that is another 5 star review in itself. The staff are amazing yoo and do a lot of extra work, thank you!

Amazing place to go when you are at sun river with children. We have a two year old and an eight year old. They had two different play areas and swim areas for the children. There are many chairs many tables. So it wasn't hard to find a place to settle down and enjoy the sun. Love this place.

Open swim:Weekdays: 2p-530pWeekends: 1030a-530pWhat a fun indoor pool for guests/homeowners at Sunriver Homeowners Aquatic Recreational Center! Here on a family vacation for the holidays, there is no snow this year, so having this indoor pool to pass the time was great. We were the first in for the weekday rec swim time (2p-530p) and found into be clean and warm. The dreaded indoor chlorine smell wasn't bad either. As a bystander, there were ample loungers and benches around the pool to find a spot. The volley net and basketball hoop were up. A fun swirling whirlpool section was popular. The lap pool remained open for open swim, or to distance from the busy play and heavy splash areas once it got busier. The outdoor hot tub was running and steaming for those who wanted to be outside. A small slide for 48" and shorter was also a hot spot.Life jackets were available for free use, and lifeguards were actively patrolling the pools. Rec center also has meeting rooms, living room, café (closed off-season), and full locker rooms. Not to shabby!

Nice place and fun for families. Mostly young kids as lifeguards but all seemed friendly and good at their jobs. Enjoyed our visit thanks for a good experience.

I was hesitant to go based off of pricing alone. At $30 for anyone over 4 years old, I hoped it would be a good experience. Luckily it was totally worth the price. There are 2 large water slides, indoor and outdoor pool/water activities for kids and adults. There was an infant pool that only is about 8 inches deep. There’s also a lazy river, small water slide for smaller kids. They have plenty of life vests from infants and bigger to use for free.Note you can’t bring floaties or outside food, but they do have a good cafe and they do seek alcoholic beverages as well.

Been coming to the SHARC for years. I love their fitness center and community room. Their gym has been updated with modern equipment, but I wish they had longer evening hours in winter for the working folks. Staff is excellent and is always willing to help.
Amy C — Google review
Hands down, the most child centric designed pool in the world. I enjoyed it as an adult, but I have two small children. It has everything: waterside, tube slide, lazy river, whirlpool, water sculptures and obstacles! Very fun.
Rajeev M — Google review
Awesome place to come visit especially if you have kids. Everything is incredibly clean and organized. It's not super huge but there are a lot of different attractions for a place this size.
Raul L — Google review
The park is clean and the staff are friendly. It's a wee bit over-priced. Be forewarned the videos and pics of the place make it appear to be larger than it really is. We had a great time though. We're out of Salem and probably won't make it a destination from here but if your in the area? Go for it. Great Sunriver weather and getting to splash around is always nice.
Altcoin T — Google review
I came when the outdoor portion was closed for winter. The indoor pool is extremely chlorinated to the point where I almost vomited, and ventilation was poor. There is no sauna here which is a big let down to me. With an establishment that looks this nice on the outside you would think they would have paid the extra scratch for a sauna. My local public pool is hands down better than this comparing the indoor part. Will not be coming back
Fred — Google review
So much fun for the kids. It was clean and had great snacks, food and drinks. Loved the mango smoothie! The water slides were alot of fun for the kids and adults!
Carrie C — Google review
People who work here are super rude. Can't even enjoy a soda purchased from their Cafe in the grass or anywhere other than a "designated" area. And how nice it is to pay $30/person only for the pool to get closed multiple times and then to get kicked out for mild thunder. Way to take people's money and run with it. Won't be back.
Chanelll — Google review
This water park is solid and big. Lots of fun. Not too much shade though. Need to get there early and claim a spot. Also the food and drink situation is not ideal. You can't bring your own food/ drink in after 11am. Cafe line gets long. Otherwise epic spot.

Today we were in Sunriver enjoying the shark pool and I just wanted to recognize a special life guard her name is Lauren she makes sure everyone is enjoying the pool, making sure everyone is being safe an following the rules when A little girl had a bloody nose she was immediately on her radio letting the first aid staff know that she was on her way and I wanted to give her a shot out for being an amazing life guard keeping it fun for all so thank you Lauren keep up the good work

Unfortunately, hours are extremely arbitrary, we came here with kids hoping to enjoy the pool but didn't get a single chance in 4 days to enjoy it. Honestly, weather was gorgeous but the place was closed, didn't make any sense whatsoever.
Albert G — Google review
Nice place, but why have the bay doors wide open when it's 50 degrees outside? My kids were blue lipped and teeth chattering within minutes. The water is warm but not enough for that. Would've been a 5 star experience otherwise
Travis C — Google review
We visited Shark in the second week of December. During winter, the pool is ooen indoor only . It's a nice place to spend time with family. There is a big pool 7 ft deep for adults and kids, different areas in the pool for different ages of kids. Hot tub ouside for 16+. There is everything that is needed : showers, lockers, clean areas, etc.

My daughter had so much fun here! We were so lucky to have passes included in our AirBnb so we were able to visit during our stay. There were so many pools to choose from and was great that there were a good number of lifeguards manning each one.Area is clean, restrooms and changing rooms too. Wonderful spot for families.

Beautiful place! Indoor volleyball pool net hd a game going on and my daughter played the whole time, nice people, clean, welcoming atmosphere. BRING a towel.
Suenia V — Google review
It’s nice when it’s open, but tends to close at the slightest sign of poor weather.Air Quality Index was is 135 and they closed the whole place down “for the safety of the guests”.Reading other reviews they cite OSHA guidelines about emoloyee safety- but OSHA regulations in Oregon allow employers to go the AQI of 276 without any protective gear.Their threshold is 150- and will be generally shut down when it gets close (135 seemed to be threshold for today to close from 2PM on). It’s a great facility when it’s open. Staff is awesome, pools are great. But the hours are so unpredictable. Most of their income comes from HOA members who pay whether or not it’s open so there isn’t a massive financial incentive to actually stay open, so I guess it makes sense.Wish they would consider regulations that weren’t vastly stricter than Oregon or federal law/recommendations though… LOVE it when it’s open!
Alden D — Google review
The pools here are awesome! There is a lazy river, a toddler pool and a regular pool with shallow and deep sides, and slides. The pools are heated and warm which is nice on milder days. If you’re here during the open season it’s a great spot for the family, kids of all ages will have fun. You can order food too, but only on weekends. We came the day before they *technically* opened (June 15th), and because it was a nice day and a Friday, they opened early, which was awesome! The downside is that, as a rental guest, you don’t have access to anything but the pools, so the spa’s and gym are off limits, and there isn’t another gym on the property you can use.

The resort offers refined accommodation with rustic-chic architecture featuring high ceilings and exposed beams. It also boasts excellent facilities including a day spa, several restaurants, and golf courses. The banquet hall is impressively designed with large growth old-fashioned decor that spans two stories.
I come here every 2 years as part of a business getaway. The rooms are excellent, rustic looking with high ceilings with exposed beams. The facilities are great. Spa is beautiful. There's a banquet hall that is 2 stories and all old large growth. Golf is good I hear too. In general a rustic architecture with modern amenities all around.

Sunriver Resort is a wonderful place for couples and family’s to spend quality time together! The resort has wonderful restaurants, and the water park is perfect for kids. It’s easy to navigate your way around and the staff is helpful and friendly. My family has been coming here for years and every time we make memories that will last a lifetime. Christmas time is beautiful with the snow, and the town is decorated. I love the local shops, plus is a fantastic place to get outdoors! I’ll continue to come back to Sunriver! My five year old approves!

I absolutely love this place. The golf courses are terrific and were in excellent condition. My room was right next to the 10th fairway on the Meadows course, an absolute golfer's dream spot. Very easy to get in and out of to go to the village for food and supplies. Room wasn't huge, but it worked perfectly for a solo trip. 100% want to come back.

Staycation at Sunriver Resort - Sage Springs Spa was HighlightAlthough I've lived in Central Oregon for decades and been to Sunriver Resort several times, this was my first time experiencing it as a hotel guest. I went with girlfriends for one night staycation. I was in a lodge room, which wasn't actually in the main lodge, but a small building overlooking the stables with beautiful mountain views. The room had a nice private deck and large in-room fireplace. We had a lovely walk around the resort grounds at dusk, enjoying the beautiful fall leaves and sunset over the Cascade mountains. A late dinner at the Lodge kitchen was fabulous: great service and fun watching the open kitchen. Breakfast at the Lodge kitchen was also delicious but a little slower service and we had to race to get to our spa appointments. The team at Sage Springs Spa was very accommodating to our slightly late arrival. We had booked the Oasis room to do the infrared sauna and luckily because no one was right after us, we were able to get plenty of time in there anyway. One of the gals I was with had not actually completed her massage reservation online but they were able to get her right in despite that. I wish that I had planned to spend more than the 4 hours there, as you really could make an entire day of it if you wanted to use the gym, saltwater pool, steam room, etc. The hot tub in the women's locker room is amazing, set in a rock wall with a fake twinkling star ceiling. My main spa treatment was the Heart to Soul - a coconut oil treatment for your head, neck, hands and feet. It was the most relaxed I've ever been while not actually sleeping. I can't believe I had waited this long to experience the spa and can't wait to go back again. I was having such a nice time I didn't take a single photo the entire stay.
Anne A — Google review
We rented a condo for 5 days in Tennis Village close to the spa which we also used. A lovely experience for the most part. The wood blinds in the master wouldn't go down completely leaving a 10" gap where people could see in. The tv was broken in the same room.
Cher B — Google review
The resort was excellent! I'd recommended staying in the lodge versus the condos. We stayed in a condo and while it was larger and had a washer and dryer, the air conditioner didn't work well and you can't just call the front desk to change rooms. The condos are all privately owned. Will definitely look to stay at the lodge next time. The pool and amenities are so great!

My boyfriend and I love Sunriver Resort. We stayed here for the first time last year in January and the resort was beautiful then too. The River Lodge Luxurious King room is very nice. The bathroom is probably one of the best I've ever experienced with a shower and bathtub and jack and Jill sinks. The staff is so friendly and quick to resolve any issues you may experience. The hot tubs all over the property are not overly hot, so they are more like soaking pools, but I could stay in them for several hours. The location is great. I do wish some of the activities centers would extend their hours, but maybe they will during the warmer seasons. Sunriver resort is a romantic winter getaway for us and we will look forward to our future stays.
Crystal F — Google review
Rooms can use a facelift. Make sure you request your room to be cleaned. Paying $1000 a night per night does not guarantee your room to be serviced. Staffs don’t seem to be in any hurry to get back to you nor can they take the orders correctly. Make sure you ask them to repeat the orders back, twice.
Julia C — Google review
We specifically got a place that had a hot tub. Unfortunately it didn't work. The maintenance guy came and said he meant to work on it before we got there. He couldn't fix it because the power outlets outside the cabin didn't work. Most of the dishes in the cabinets including all the silverware were dirty. We paid very little to stay there for the 3 days we did roughly $180 per night so we got what we paid for the equivalent of a cheap hotel. We looked up the price for the same cabin in summer and it goes for $1,500 a night 😱 If you do go in the winter I wish you better luck than we had. Quite disappointing.

Loved our room! Loved the fireplace. Created such a nice ambiance in the room. The service was amazing. From gentlemen opening doors to the front desk and bartender at the owl's nest, everyone was welcoming, and we SUPER appreciated them letting us in our room a little before check-in time. We will absolutely be back. It's worth every penny. They also have my favorite coffee shop in the village area. I highly recommend the Turkish hazelnut latte at Brewed Awakenings!

Honestly, would've had a better experience at a 50 dollar camp ground. Wife got food poisoning from the bistro, had to cancel the raft even though they charged us for it, tried to leave early but they charged us for the entire stay, even though we tried to leave before check in.Save hundreds of dollars and get a campground.

This resort was absurdly expensive, though maybe I just didn't get the right pricing? The helpfulness of the staff was mixed - some great and others less so. Our room was wonderful and once we figured out the bike trail markers we fully took advantage of the trails (rented great bikes) and went to Benham Falls and the Lava park as well. It was great having the village nearby as well.

We had a wonderful experience at the resort. We were there for about a week. The service by shuttle bus was excellent and super fast, friendly, helpful. The pool was great, pony ride was fun for our son, and of course wonderful paved walking/biking paths everywhere! I would recommend this place for a vacation to any family with kids, for sure. The only thing lacking IMHO was a big shaded playground, by the pool would be ideal. - The resort is an easy drive to LavaLands, Smith Rock, Crater Lake, and much more.

First off , the room was great, with the exception of a wet spot by the bathroom sink that never dried, so there must have been a leak.Looking past that, it was fantastic once we got past the not so great customer service at the lodge desk. The lady working was snippy with my wife and had very little patience with us common folk who weren't spending a ton of money. Of course, this is purely an assumption and a read of the room. I'll explain a bit more:I get it, we rented a room at a resort for a long weekend (3 days) and didn't pay for any of the additional big ticket amenities - we're just not big golfers and we prefer to go out and make our own adventures but for a hospitality establishment you should be accustomed to that and treat everyone with respect. We didn't let the rude lady ruin our good time. Adventures were had, and memories were made. The view from our room overlooked part of the gold course. We had elk roaming the grounds with a gorgeous backdrop of the mountains. The 3 stars are just because of the service and the unusual wet spot no one at the resport seemed to care about. The room was great, and the location both got 5 stars.

Spent 4 days in May. It was quiet this time of the year. Had a wonderful time. Did not give five stars because we had an issue with the fireplace the first day. The outdoor hot tub was out of order the second day, and the backyard grill was closed the last two days we were there. Had some good meals at the lodge. But not great for what your charged. Also, the venue was an open lodge atmosphere with booth seating, so felt you weren't getting your full money's worth with a romantic setting, something you might have at a higher end restaurant. Service everywhere we went was very friendly and fast. Very relaxing Love the room and our view from the back. Rented bikes. Bike service was fast and personalized with great customer service.

The bathroom was great. Separate bath tub and shower stall. The wooden pillars and beams in the bedroom makes it seem really cozy. The food in the restaurant was top notch. The cocktails were not that great, I wish they had a greater variety. The location is ok, not very scenic. There are a lot of walking trails though. Overall a nice getaway from daily life, but the steep price is not fully justified.

This was my first experience at Sunriver Resort. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. If you love to walk or bike, this is your place. It’s very quiet and peaceful; a good place to recharge. Easy check in and check out.Unfortunately, my room was incredibly, for lack of a better word, dirty. There was an old used wash rag hanging from the shower upon my arrival, and the counters in the room had a ton of dust and a piece of a toenail. Pretty gross. The in-room mugs were also not clean, and I would devise again using the Keurig, as there was visible mold when it was opened. I did try calling but sat on hold for a while, and there was a decent line at the front desk. I ended up cleaning it up myself. Hopefully, my experience was a fluke occurrence.

After purchasing groceries for the condo I rented in Sunriver Resort from Bend, I arrived after 4 pm and was told no, not until 6 pm due to cleaning issues. So, with my children, pets and husband rented bikes and kindly waited until 6 pm. With my groceries in my car in 78-degree weather. At 6pm, I was then told we are going to now have to wait until 8pm. This is my first and most likely last experience here. Very unprofessional.

Our family had a great weekend stay at Sunriver! We have two small children and they LOVED the pool and going for walks along the trails. Our suite was very comfortable for everyone and we had plenty of space. Absolutely would stay again and cannot wait to go back!

Located just north of the Sunriver Resort, the Oregon Observatory at Sunriver Nature Center is a fantastic spot for both kids and adults to learn about local wildlife and habitats. The real highlight is the Observatory, offering Night Sky Viewings with approximately 10 telescopes focused on celestial objects like the moon, Saturn, and the Andromeda galaxy. With knowledgeable staff providing explanations, it's an incredible experience under the bright rural Oregon stars.
We just completed the in-depth Observatory Nighttime Visit 4/8/2023. It was excellent! We saw galaxies, globular star clusters, constellations, Mars, venous, and the capella star. Those are the ones I can remember. We also got an intro into telescopes and are looking forward to getting our own DOB. We would highly recommend

It was amazing but the lines where super long there is no wait to get in but there is a speech and lines to look through the telescopes.
Mia E — Google review
I would recommend doing this at least once. I'd break the experience down in 3 parts. The initial presentation, taking about stars. - 4 stars. Looking through telescopes. A unique experience. - 5 stars. The end presentation pointing out constellations. - would be 5 stars if the clouds didn't move in. Overall a good experience.
Nathan E — Google review
The stars were amazing! Having so many telescopes set up at once made for a great experience. The the staff was extremely knowledgeable. A life changing experience for me!
James N — Google review
Have been coming to Sunriver for a decade and have a large family. We always visited the Observatory and have done all their tours. This year I promised my kiddos we’d take them to the gift shop but were turned away at the door, being treated with extreme rudeness and disrespect. We were informed we’d have to pay admission (being around $40) to shop in the gift shop. My children have also always enjoyed seeing the bees but I was told that some other people there had paid admission and my children couldn’t look at the bees that are right next to the front desk and out in the open. So now we won’t be going back. I ended up crying because this female employee treated me so poorly.

Great experience!! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and were always happy to answer your questions!! Definitely a must see when you are in the Sunriver/Bend area! We will definitely go back again!!

Great experience. Approximately 10 telescopes set up and trained on various celestial objects. 10 or 11 qualified staff (presumably volunteer?) keeping the scopes trained on and offering explanations for an assortment of celestial bodies and points of interest including the moon, Saturn, the Andromeda galaxy and some others. The stars are bright out in rural Oregon, team! You need a reservation, they are only open on certain nights, so check the schedule, and tix are $35 each. Definitely would do again if I'm ever in the area again.

What a wonderful place 🥹 the sky was full of stars... We visited in the first week of September I think it's at 7k feet so bit chilly.. We watched saturn, Jupiter, nebulas etc through the telescopes.. better to visit on a no moon night.. you don't need red light to cover your car's headlights. Keep mobile on low brightness and adjust for night vision after you reach there. They suggest not to use mobile and disturb others.. they gave some glow in dark straps, we tied it on our shoes... You can complete the tour in 1hr or so. Those who wear glasses try contact lens. But kindly note the images through telescopes might not be HD, so it's kinda blurry. Also don't touch the telescopes. Cheers.

Lots of volunteers helping out people. Got to see star clusters and Jupiter and the moon and the Andromeda galaxy. Dark, so lots of stars visible. Pricey tickets.
Dhananjay R — Google review
The night time show and telescope viewing is really cool, totally worth the money and time. The presentation upfront is fun and got to see a ton of cool stars and planets. The staff is really informative and know their stuff. They sold out but place didn’t feel busy, the right balance of people and space. It is worth raising the price to keep this balance. I would give more than five stars if possible.

Reserved a night-time viewing party. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Quickly offered specialized options for a physically handicapped member of our party, making it a great experience for her! 10 out of 10 would recommend

Wow I had no idea how great of a resource thus place is! Over 20 telescopes of every design. roofs roll back. I will becoming back over and over.
Scott P — Google review
We saw no planets, the moon was not visible until after we left, my mom paid $750 for our group, and we were greatly dismayed at the tiny pinpoint of lights that were supposed to be interesting. Once you’ve seen one binary star, it’s time to move on to something like Saturn’s rings. Apparently no planets were visible during our visit; that would’ve been good to know ahead of time. We wouldn’t have booked. The moon was also not visible during the 9p.m. to 11 p.m. hours. Besides getting lots of mosquito bites, and wondering when we were actually going to get to see something cool, we were left with a lackluster experience. Obviously, this observatory receives excellent ratings, hence our $750 commitment. In this situation, disappointment is a kind word.
Traci P — Google review
It was supposed to be cloudy, but we still saw crazy amount of stars. It was my first time being Milky Way. There are a lot of telescopes aiming for different starts like Mars, Saturn, and Vega. Staff members are informative and nice. Great experience to have once in your life time.

Very cool place that was worth the trip. Expert help answered questions and gave great kid friendly demos of telescopes. Lots of stuff to learn and a great facility for the hands on experience. Full family fun for kids of any age. Dress warm and expect to stay up late.

Fascinating!!! I went to the Night Sky Viewing. Run by volunteers who clearly love what they’re doing and take their time to teach and show you all about the stars, constellations, and planets!! I recommend getting there when it starts because there is so much to do... and even though you have looked through one telescope, you’ll come back and realize they’ve aimed it at something different!!I loved this and I will certainly be back!! I very much recommend this!!!

Absolutely loved our visit to the Observatory last Thursday. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. I loved the little tutorials at each telescope. Alex did a fantastic job with the constellation guided tour. He was funny and engaging, and I learned a lot! The whole visit far exceeded any expectations that I had had. Thank you to everyone who maintains the buildings, equipment and the experience as a whole. Hands down my favorite part of our trip to Sunriver!

The Sunriver Observatory is a great source of information and the people there love what they are doing. I was just there volunteering with my 20" telescope and can’t thank the people running this observatory enough. We had a great night and so many people enjoyed all the telescopes which are many. This is a must place to visit to see the stars. For the small fee which keeps the place up and running you get to look through scopes from 4” to 30” reflectors.

Fishing Charters & Tours
Beyond their expertise & knowledge of being fly fishing guides, Elke & Alysia are gracious, funny, and just wonderful human beings. Learning a little bit more about their culture, their respect and honor they hold toward their ancestral lands, and being incredibly welcoming to another POC fisherwoman, I’d say fishing with them was just a bonus. I’ve fished the east side of the Deschutes many times prior and have never had this much action on a dry fly. I missed so many fish but learned so much in a half day spent with them. I highly recommend them and looking forward to my next hang with them!

Patient, knowledgeable, experienced. Team Littleleaf is excellent. Fantastic instruction on Spey casting and they got me dialed in. Caught my first ever steelhead and some fat, aggressive red bands. Core memory made and I hope to be able to fish them again soon.

Extremely grateful to have learned from Alysia and Elke. They were so knowledgeable and helpful and I learned so much information! I can’t wait to get back on the river with them, they have forever impacted my fly fishing game and I can’t wait to apply everything I learned. Seriously, I can’t say enough good things! Especially if you are a lady angler (beginner or seasoned), consider this your sign to get in touch with Alysia! Littleleaf Guides are the BEST!

Fantastic experience, massive fish and one of the most interesting people I’ve met in awhile. Between the history lesson I received on everything from Native American Culture to Bigfoot, learning from watching an excellent fly fisherman and being around all around good human beings I must say these guys are fantastic. We're thrilled to see that Cascade Spirits Tasting Room & Bottle Shop has reopened. Customers have had a fantastic experience there, with Katie being both hospitable and knowledgeable. Visitors can enjoy spirit and mini cocktail tastings with great recommendations from Katie. The passion of the staff is evident, and customers love trying their fun vodkas and getting new cocktail ideas. The canned vodka sodas are also delicious, with the cranberry vodka being a favorite.

We had the pleasure of speaking with the distiller/owner when we visited. We tried just about everything they have. It was a pleasure to visit and the education we received was outstanding. It was a truly great experience. We were so happy to taste vodka that was not artificially flavored and infused with actual real food. I cant actually say enough good so I will stop now.

Nature & Parks
The Tumalo Falls cascades down 97 feet in the Deschutes National Forest, surrounded by trails perfect for hiking and mountain biking. This hike offers a plethora of picturesque waterfalls to admire along the way, with the first one easily visible from the parking area. The uphill trek may be challenging but is rewarded with stunning views of nature's beauty. Visitors can even walk up to the top part of the falls without difficulty.
This is an amazingly beautiful hike with numerous falls to view along the way. You get a great view of the first fall right after you park. Be warned though that you will be walking uphill pretty much the entire hike until you decide to turn around which is then naturally downhill.
Dustin D — Google review
Gorgeous waterfalls that are east access. Two miles on a dirt road and a busy parking lot are the hardest part of seeing these falls. Take the trail to the base of the falls for an adventure
Erin B — Google review
So beautiful but the road is closed in the winter season so it is about a five mile hike out and back in the snow. Worth the walk! There are bathrooms at the trailhead.
Sarah E — Google review
One of the best hikes I’ve been on. A bit out of shape but I hiked past the log (+railing) about 1/2 mi. So @5 mi in all. I would happily do the entire 7-8 mi round trip next time. It’s a very gradual climb that flattens out frequently so you can catch your breath easily. And all the waterfalls you’ll see keeps ya going! Love it!

Gorgeous place walked right up with my 2 kids to see the falls even went up to the top part which was a slight grade but easy to do. Parking gets full but still a beautiful place to go. Has bathrooms by the parking area.

In A Nutshell:-Tumalo Falls is a beautiful waterfall in a state (Oregon) full of beautiful waterfalls!-This is easy to get to waterfall offers you a viewpoint to take photos of w/ it as the background.-In addition, you can walk along the path to get several angles of the waterfall to include being literally on top of it.Overall, this is very nice waterfall that you can get up close & personal.

Tumalo Falls is amazing and can be seen right from the parking lot. The Tumalo Falls loop is a spectacular hike and contains many stunning waterfalls, but it does involve a river crossing using a downed, dead tree with no railings or marked footpath - not for the faint of heart! But this is a beautiful area that's well worth a visit!

You have to see it from the top 🔝 Phenomenal 4-5 miles hike. The waterfall is gorgeous. We went during thanksgiving week and you can tell that the rain has done his magic. I recommend doing it when there’s more rain or snow I bet it will be breathtaking.

Great place for their views of the waterfall and hiking trails. Try to go early morning as the parking lot is limited but worth it. They do have another parking lot a few meters from the falls but a bit of a walk but not bad.

This beautiful waterfall is just outside of Bend! Definitely worth the trip and hike. You can walk along the stream and get close to the waterfall at the end. Make sure you have hiking boots on bc it’s slippery and muddy. So beautiful and worth it!!!

An amazing find. Take your camera, a bottle of water and bug spray. The trail is steep but really easy. The overlooks provide great views and there’s a trail along the creek that will give you a cool perspective lower down. The pit toilet was really clean but may not be for the more citified types. :)

Very easy hike. Horrible parking. Dog friendly as long as they are on leash. I recommend a 4x4 but you don’t need to have one, it’s just gonna be bumpy and rough though.

Since we are not here during open season (starts in june) we had a 2.5 mile hike to the falls from where we had to park. A gate closes you out of driving to the closer lot. During the open season it'll only be about a 1 mile hike to the lower falls! Fairly easy hike. Minimal incline. Many people walked it at a range of ages.
Waverly J — Google review
The road to the water falls are closed there for you need to hike about extra 3km (40 min) just to get there. The main water fall is amazing, and there weren't to many people it there. The hike to the second one is more extreme. The trail is still mostly covered by snow, which makes the hike a little bit difficult. All you need to do is follow the footprints and be careful.I arrived there around 4pm and I was the only person there.
Roman B — Google review
Gorgeous views of multiple waterfalls via North Fork trail. The main waterfall is an easy hike from the parking lot with a built out overlook. Elevation climb was moderate and gradual with easy paths that are soft and fairly smooth. Mostly shaded. Some rocks or tree roots here and there. We stopped a lot to enjoy the views!

Beautiful waterfall and hiking trail. Make sure you take a picture of the map before you start to know where your headed or how far you want to go. There are many spots along the trail to get in the water so bring your bathing suit and water shoes.

Visiting Tumalo Falls had been a bucket list item for me. It is well worth the trip. It's a very easy drive up the hill from Drake Park in Bend, and even though the last 3 miles of the drive are on a dirt road, it is well maintained and well worth it. There is a trail that begins at the parking lot and it's a short walk to the viewpoints for the falls. If you go beyond the falls, there are two smaller waterfalls that are both one and two miles up the trail towards Happy Valley. The trail is well maintained and worth the time. Probably give yourself 2 hours round trip.

One of the best hikes I've ever done (after 14 countries, etc) with a summit that is flat and offers 360 panoramas.Went in June and snow made the first 30min of hiking confusing as we got off track, but everything is smooth and straightforward otherwise. The hike is easy and we did it in a tshirt and shorts + hiking boots. Make sure to bring sunscreen and good attitudes!Plenty of parking before trail and beautiful scenery all around. You won't regret it.

Strenuous two miles up, and two miles back down. Bring poles if needed/desired. Starts pretty foresty with a few teaser views of mount bachelor on the way up. At the top you get a fabulous panoramic view of the Cascade mountain range. Bathroom at the free parking area of Dutchman Flats. You can snowshoe up in winter, or hike up and snowboard 🏂 down! In the summer, go early to avoid the heat. Bring plenty of water.

Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery
Fish farm
I have been visiting wizard falls, truthfully, before I could walk. Every summer I remember my parents bringing me to the hatchery. I was always giddy with excitement and couldn't wait to get my handful of fish food to offer to the fish. Heck if I was lucky, maybe I'd get to feed some geese! 30 years later and they are still working magic at Wizard Falls. I even saw a bald eagle, an osprey, deer, a snake, and a river otter on my last visit! Now with children of my own, I can't wait to share with them the same joys I had (still have) each summer at Wizard Falls.

Mid-week visit. Enjoyed wandering the grounds & checking out all the different sections with fish in varying stages of growth. Most of our time was spent feeding the semi-wild trout at the pond & marveling at their size & never-ending appetite.A must for families with kiddos!

My daughter absolutely loved it. You can buy fish food there to feed the fish. It was 25 cents for about 40 pellets. The only thing was hard was getting my daughter to leave
Nick R — Google review
I used to love this place, what happened!? Very little love or care put in to the property, it is not nearly as nice as it was 2+ years ago. The bathroom requirements are ridiculous, considering the number of employees wandering around. No excuses for these absurd conditions, especially when hikes out in the middle of nowhere have stocked bathrooms that are semi-taken care of.We saw at least 5 employee vehicles, and the 4 employees we saw wandering around were haphazardly feeding the few fish left to look somewhat productive. This fish hatchery used to be second to none. How sad. They want you to bring your own toiletries and cleaning products to use the outhouse porta-potty! And it wasn't even busy. (Oh, and to the person saying there is a store nearby -- the food is terrible. Don't do it. Fast food is better, sadly.)

I've gone here twice and both times I enjoyed it a lot. It was really nice to just walk around and appreciate nature as well as to feed the fish. You can buy some fish food and machines around the place for a quarter. You can also spot an eagle perched at the top of the trees sometimes which is awesome sight. I forgot to take pictures of the actual hatchery, but I took some of the river.

Kids and kids-at-heart can get a lot of joy for 25¢ by buying fish food and watching the trout swarm. Also—don’t neglect hiking upstream from the bridge past the falls (yes, that’s the falls by the bridge—apparently they used to be more impressive) on the east bank (parking lot side) because there are beautiful blue, deep pools where the river narrows, not far from the bridge.
John M — Google review
The hatchery was on a nice site. We could roam freely along the runs, observing the bigger fish. The fertilizing and nursery were closed.. There was a pond with large fish swimming around that you could feed. The river next to the hatchery was beautiful.

This review is for customer service for buying lift tickets to get up to the Evergreen trail. The first woman we spoke to said it would save $20 if I got the tickets online and refused to match that price. Then she had the audacity to say to me “if you can’t figure out how to do it, maybe the others (younger than me) can help you.” Mind you, there was no one else in line at this time. Then she walked away. So I go online and in order to get tickets of any kind, you have to make an account. Seriously? We use my DIL account but the process to buy tickets is so complicated & convoluted it took us literally 30 minutes to buy 4 tickets. So we get that done, go back to counter & there’s another woman there who also had a terrible attitude and seemed put out & bothered about entering our info. She does walk us over to the machine that reads the QR code to print. We watched her be short with another couple who also needed CUSTOMER SERVICE. I mean, it’s right there on the giant sign over the desk. All this took about 45 minutes before we could get to the lift. Ridiculous. Cost was $83 for 3 adults & 1 child. To ride the lift one way.The trail itself was fine. Lots of switchbacks, loose dirt & gravel. Beautiful views. The hike down is about 4.5 miles. It took us 1:48 but we took our time. Combination of sun & shade so there is frequent relief if it’s hot & sunny.

I had a great experience snowboarding for the first time. Get there early if you’re going on a Saturday like we did. The parking lot fills up quickly. The bunny hill was really fun and was a great place to practice. The lifts were smooth and the staff would slow them down for you if you raise your hand when it was time to get off.

I went here for some late spring riding. Runs are wide and very spacious. Weekday was not busy at all, which was great. They stop lifts at 1330 (spring hours). While the resort was limited due to the time of year, I bet it's amazing when it is functioning at full capacity. Beautiful views from the mountain top as usual. Lift ticket was pricy for just half a day, and only some lifts operating. BummerBtw snowboarders are better and cooler. Jk idk maybe

Great runs, great atmosphere. Feels family friendly even though it long ago fell into the hands of Alterra. Sunnier than most other resorts in the PNW. Beautiful tree runs but unfortunately if you catch at the wrong time it can be completely iced over and you need to stay on-piste, groomed.

We've been to the resort many times for skiing in the winter and it's fantastic. Last week (August), we took some friends up in the lift in the summer for the first time. It was a great experience. It was more crowded than I expected with lots of folks taking their mountain bikes up on the lift and riding down the many trails. Great views of the three Sisters and Broken Top. The restaurants at Pine Marten and West Village are open as well.

Wow, lifelong Oregonian and had never been to Mt. Bachelor. My daughter 🎿 skies there often and really enjoys her experiences. All photos were taken from the lodge. Wah an amazingly good lunch with a world class Bloody Mary. The weather was spectacular and everyone had a great time.Even non-skier me. Great facility and beautiful access.

Really Fun place to ski. So glad we took the trek down from the Mt Hood area.Only downside was the wind caused the summit closed. The skiing was great and I kept getting lost, in a good way, finding fun paths to navigate. The Cone was really cool run as well. The snow was so soft.

This was the first time I had gone to this ski resort and found it to be really nice. The resort had a great variety of terrain for all levels of skiers/boarders and the lodges are very comfortable and accommodating. The people themselves and workers there are all super nice and don't have any attitudes like you might find at other resorts.I would say that the only upgrade I would wish for would be the lift system. Half of the lifts are upgraded, more modern high speed 6+packs but the others could use some help. When I was there, there were not too many people on the hill but with 1/2 the lifts closed it made the rest of the resort packed...not greatWith the intense weather that this resort can experience, I would highly recommend the resort invest in something that can withstand higher winds...sooner the betterI hope to return soon to board what I could not get to this time around

This is my first time here as I’m visiting from Newyork and really had great experience went for cross country skiing ⛷️ they have different trails for beginners, mid levels and professional skiers. They also provide us a map with all the trails with directions and numbers makes us easy to follow. The trails are so beautiful covered with white powder ❄️ which makes you feel high and to push yourself to do more skiing 🎿. They also provide skiing gear rentals and beginner learning sessions at Nordic center. Definitely 💯 will come back visit this place again.

It was a great time my family had a great time I rode the lift I was too heavy by 1 pound for the zip line they’re strict on the weight limit

This place is our home mountain, we live 20 minutesfrom our driveway to their parking lot. It's a great place to just snowboard/ski. They try to push it as a resort experience and also price it as such. You should not expect the customer service experience that you get somewhere like vail or Whistler(even with the price match). This is a 'ski area' and not a true resort experience. I've skipped the season pass for a few years now because of their lift maintenance issues. They seem to be trying to sort it out now, so we will be getting passes again next season.

A better name would be MID Mountain because the skiing was incredibly MID.The mountain has rough quality snow many locals refer to it as the Pacific Northwest concrete, but it’s even slicker and crunchier than places like whistler or crystal mountain. This mountain is very wide but very bland and the same. There is so much easy tree skijng and easy skiing in general nothing is incredibly difficult (but I might be called an expert skier), however the snow quality in mid February makes it very lackluster.Ample parking which is a vibe. Sometimes a bit of traffic if you leave at 4pm.Great views though!

Have to say that the only downside to Mt Bachelor Zipline is that the tour doesn’t last longer. We had a trio of intelligent and skillfull guides. I’m embarrassed to admit that I am awful at remembering names(I’m sorry guides!) I recall Mallory, there was a rad woman with long curly black hair, and another with fern and mushroom tattoos. (If you love your RAV4, you know who you are!) They were kind, patient and polite. The resort looks like a lot of fun. I have been snowboarding for about 20 years, and now I wonder why I never made it Bachelor. Probably because I was a broke young adult who made bad financial decisions. The mountain bike lift and trails look challenging, with some beginners options as well. We visited mid day on July 15th (a Monday) and there weren’t many food or beverage locations that were actually open. Since we weren’t there to eat, I’m not letting that affect my review. Maybe just add some zip line merchandise to your gift shop? Thank you again to the team at Mt Bachelor Zipline!

Great place for beginner skiers. Parking is not a problem. There is a casual and large lodge where you can eat and drink. This place has everything you need for spending the day skiing.

The good thing about this place first and foremost is that it was open, while other skiing areas at lower elevations in Oregon had yet to get enough snow. Expect to see a lot of families with children under 12. These photos are from the Sunrise Lodge, which is more akin to a cafeteria than a place to sit around a cozy fireplace, but the food and drinks were great so it's more a matter of what kind of skiing experience you're looking for.

4.5. The mountain is awesome looking, it’s fun to ski, the people are chill. The staff wasn’t as on top of it as I’m used to (locals seemed to agree) so I couldn’t ski Summit in the 4 days I was there. That’s the -0.5.

Ride on chair lift to shop. People were fun. Place was so pretty. It is worth the $28. Go have a beer at the top and take in the best of Bend

The resort was well run from parking attendants to those running the lifts. When my son and his friend found a hill too difficult they were quickly helped and when needed taken to the bottom in sleds. Lifts were slowed and stopped to care for skiers having difficulty. Everyone was in good spirits. Snow was available when there was no snow at other resorts.

Bachelor is a great mountain with a variety of runs and great lifts. We hit the perfect weekend with sun, little to no wait for lifts and amazing runs. The main lodge felt like a party and the Sunrise Lodge was nice and relaxing. We felt spoiled by how much fun we had. And the APP! So fun to see the stats at the end of the day and to be able to see where members of your party are. We will be back.

The premier destination in the area for big slopes with frequently good dumps of snow.Hiking the cone has been a good intro to touring and uphill travel. The sales shop staff are super friendly and helpful with boot fit and other tune ups.I do wish the corporate bigwigs hadn’t banned the food trucks, evidently to monopolize the revenue. Nothing they offer can compare to Dump City Dumplings, etc.

Great snow! Great slopes! Gorgeous views! I’ll come back to ski next time. We went there (Nov 22) just before they were opened for skiers so it’s was empty for us that day.Updated in January! Ski was a blast despite of the snow storm. The staff did a great job on making sure most of lifts were open. During icy conditions I quit since it was dangerous but I like the resort so far.

If you are coming here for snowshoeing, you’ll have a grand time. Affordable and exclusive trails. Whole kit and kaboodle (shoes, poles, trail pass) for $30/ppSkiing is over $220 for lift + rental. You can only reserve online. Hard pass. Thank goodness they have a fantastic series of snowshoeing trails.

Kayaking and canoeing are popular water activities on Sparks Lake, a scenic body of water that offers breathtaking views of several mountain peaks. It is situated in Central Oregon, an area known for its pristine outdoors and diverse natural landscapes. The lake is known for its crystal-clear waters, high altitude location, and clean air. It is surrounded by stunning scenery consisting of snow-capped mountains in the winter and lush greenery during the summer months.
Absolutely gorgeous lake at the end of one of the most bumpiest roads I've ever been on. The lake itself is so peaceful and the views of the mountains are incredible. I didn't float out far but the water was insanely clear as far as I could see. Definitely recommend checking it out if you have a car that sits higher. OH! And don't forget your bug spray, the bugs are brutal if you don't have it handy.

This beautiful lake is a 40 minute drive from Bend. The last 10 minutes of the drive are horrendously bumpy. There is dispersed camping as well as a campground along the way. But once you get to the trailhead, you’ll find a decent bathroom and the start to some lovely easy trails. There are some interesting historical plaques, and one commemorative memorial plaque for photographer Ray Atkeson at the beginning, and the path starts off paved. When the trail diverges, the path to the right has stunning views of the lake. Then you start looping back through the forest. Definitely take the short Davis Canyon detour which takes you through large lava rock crevice. The longest loop trail is 2.5 miles. It’s also a great kayak and canoe spot to enjoy the lake more!

The road getting in definitely needs repair so be prepared for that. The lake is quite shallow, and anything deeper is going to be to the south. Beautiful Mountain View’s.

I even attended sisters high school the very first year high school was available to students in the town..1992…Living here in Carmel CA.. we have the wharfs in Monterey.. Santa Cruz is here.. pacific grove.. pebble beach..just stunning coastal scenery everywhere around me my entire life..But NOTHING beats my summers with the grandparents at sparks lake.. scout lake.. blue lake..Central oregon outdoors! There isn’t anything like it! Impeccably clean.. clear fresh air.. snow in the winter.. heat in the summer..Cannot ask for anything more

Great kayaking lake! Not the best for swimming though, unless you are fond of swimming in about 2 feet of water. When I went I was expecting a somewhat shallow lake with a depth of about 10 feet, but I kept sliding onto land in the middle of the lake because some spots were no more than a couple inches deep, which isn’t good for kayaking. Thankfully though, it wasn’t a problem to get out of my kayak and walk to a deeper part. Also, it’s important to note that the pay station is all paper, so make sure you have $5 of cash on hand or an annual pass of some sort.Awesome lake!! Great view of Batchelor and Broken Top too.

Absolutely stunning lake, but the forest service road is rough. It's a short 2 mile drive that would normally take less than five minutes, but due to the poor condition of the road, it takes 10/15 minutes. With entrance fees costing $5 per person, and hundreds - if not thousands - of visitors per year, why is a portion of that money not put towards the repair and maintenance of the road?

It was love at first sight! Due to a really rough access road, it was not even close to as crowded as touristy Elk Lake was. It's quiet and peaceful here. There's a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and really cool rock formations. I went during the fires, so it got extremely smokey in the afternoon, but it was decently clear in the morning. The lake was almost all only a foot or two deep, and I dragged bottom a couple of times. But there's a lot of lake area now covered with beautiful flowers because it's so shallow. This was my favorite of all the lakes!

Absolutely beautiful place. I’m sure it’s great during the spring and summer too but the frozen lake and the scenery around it during the late fall and winter is just stunning. Definitely need a 4x4 to access this lake unless you want to hike all the way in from the main road.

This was a place that’s been on my list to visit for a year now and I’m so glad I finally did! This place is GORGEOUS!! If you come you MUST get here before sunrise! That’s the best time to view this place and capture some stellar images, if you’re really into photography! This location can be very crowded, as there are people that camp in this area and are photographers like myself, coming to photograph and people walking around the area as well.If you’re in Sunriver or Bend you want to make sure you make it a task to visit this spot! You can’t be that close and not. It’s one of my favorite locations in Oregon and would recommend to anyone that wants to see a beautiful landscape vista view!

Beautiful lake and hiking area. Went here recently and hiked for about 2 hours. Nice, manageable trail with lots of places to stop and take in the scenery. Not accessible nobody in our group struggles with the hike. There was some snow on the ground but it was mostly melted by the time we visited. We encountered a lot of dogs and other hikers on the trails. Will definitely be going back here next time we're in the Bend area.
